Actual fact question, what job did Dick take when he was in Titans before moving back to the Manor and to' Bludhaven?

Dude! Same here. Like, since those conversations I sometimes wonder if I love Nightwing as much as I think I do, or if part of it is just these ideas we've tossed around that I'm such a fan of.

Y'know, I'd love to get a pm going sometime and iron out a whole thing with this. Mix and match our ideas until we've got a actual story and setting. Just for the creative fun of it, obviously.

I just realized how behind the times I am on comics. Did Leviathan, formerly the baddest of baddies, make a face turn or something recently?
No, not exactly. But I feel like Leviathan wasn't handled as a straight up villain organization; like they had a solid pitch I could see some heroes actually getting behind even though they're still pretty shady (I might use the word pragmatic). But Leviathan is supposed to be teaming up with the Legion of Doom and, I dunno maybe I missed an appearance or I'm forgetting something, but all through Event Leviathan I got the feeling they wouldn't work with villains like that.

I can see this. To me, this is an in world, pragmatic question of funding. Surely starting a clandestine spy outfit from the ground up would be expensive. Where is Dick going to get this funding? I'd rather not brush that under the rug. There is something to be said for him trying to get this done on a shoestring budget though. That concept is actually quite interesting.
That's why I suggest Dick pull resources from the remains of the spy world and fold it into Batman Inc. That would give him the funding and infrastructure to get started, but not much beyond that. From there he could hunt down Karen (I love that idea) and secure financing. So you could spin the "shoestring spies" thing for a while, but use the growing resources and wealth of the organization as a way to measure their success.

That honestly sounds like a great story to me as well: Dick tracking down Karen. Fits with her disappearance from that main universe as well, actually. You could spin that to say that she's been working from the shadows.
I like that. I feel like it'd be fitting if the first Bat legacy was the one to save the first Super legacy, yknow? I wonder what Priest planned on doing with Karen, if he had been allowed to do that Power Girls story he wanted to? We've had such fun stealing each others' ideas here I'm sure it'd even more so stealing from him!

Where would be the closet thing to the circus?

A theater. Dick is a performer, born to be in the center ring. Now replace the ring with a stage.

He has good acting skills, able to act convincingly as The Joker when he's undercover in Arkham and convince Two-Face that he's the real Batman even though Dick, Bruce, and Harvey know each other pretty well. (Most of the time he's himself when he's Batman but he can act the part when it's needed)

Of course, there's his undercover stint in Spyral as well, where he can play as Matches Malone's criminal contact while at the same time cheekily drop references to the fact that he's Dick Grayson to the readers before the reveal.

That said, the theater is as demanding as the circus and it's literally a place of drama. They can travel too, but not as much as Haly's if they're a small local group.

If Dick lives at Bludhaven and Bludhaven is the Las Vegas of the DC Universe, I think he could be a professional gambler or an acrobat who works for the casinos of Bludhaven or both: an acrobat who works for the casinos of Bludhaven, who is also a gambler.
Anyway his job should be something related to his investigations and the city where he lives, in order to use his job like a cover and infiltrate in the criminal life of Bludhaven.

I mean if he had to be a gambler do you mean he would be rigging the slots so he could get closer to the mob? I mean with him just being the acrobat he could face the same thing racketeering. I mean he could also be nightclub owner.

Actually I thought to a professional poker player: in this way Dick could investigate on the business of the clandestine gambles, but also the job of a nightclub owner could work; like I wrote his job should be something related to his investigations and the city where he lives.

As in gambles to make money. Poker, black jack, roulette. It’s not illegal, and the highs and lows of that kind of living speaks to character.

The last run of West Coast Avengers was pretty good. And I hate reality tv shows.

That’s interesting. Maybe he could work a few separate jobs in the same casino depending on what they need. One day he is poker player another night handling the bar and the acrobat. That way we can see him in the same setting but different scenes to get a idea the personality of the casino.

One he is done he could easily use the money to open a nightclub owner.

In that case be the owner of a nightclub should be the best job: he would have the money, the time and the freedom (he wouldn't have an employer) to do everything his investigations require; also work under the disguise of a dockers. Maybe he could have a "professional character arc": he could start to work like acrobat and then he could buy a nightclub.

How much money would grayson even be paid to be a acrobat? I mean I do think maybe he could do more than one job at the casino?

He could just be an actor or a professional stuntman, I’ve always loved the idea of the traveling circus. I know it’s gone out of style in real life but it doesn’t have to be in the comics.
Reading List (Super behind but reading them nonetheless):
    DC: Currently figuring that out
    Marvel: Read above
    Image: Killadelphia, Nightmare Blog
Other: The Antagonist, Something is Killing the Children, Avatar: TLAB
Manga: My Hero Academia, MHA: Vigilanties, Soul Eater: the Perfect Edition, Berserk, Hunter X Hunter, Witch Hat Atelier, Kaiju No. 8

I've suggested Dick going into professional extreme sports, like snowboarding or something. Didn't catch on here, though.

It plays to his physicality but in a way that isn't going to be instantly "Oh, those're Nightwing's moves!" because Nightwing doesn't fight on a snowboard (or skateboard or bike or whatever) and it works with Dick's thrill seeking/adrenaline junkie personality. It allows him to travel. He'd largely be setting his own schedule so the job isn't going to get in the way of being Nightwing. It easily explains why he's always covered in bruises and cuts (because mastering a tough new trick is painful work). It opens up plot opportunities, as he comes across people competing on Miraclo, managers brainwashing their client's competition with HIVE pheromones, Stagg Inc. bribing people to lose, illegal betting, etc. Hell, maybe he finds out a secret society is recruiting new agents and hit men from among the athletes (like the Court used the circus). And of course, he could end up in the Olympics, and that alone opens up all kinds of story potential.

It also makes him a role model for kids, and he can use his fame to endorse worthy charities and causes, and that would reach far more kids and do far more good than him just volunteering somewhere or running his own NPO in a crappy Gotham/Bludhaven/Metropolis neighborhood. Because the job gives him so much down time, he can make appearances at children's hospitals, youth centers, etc., and meet the kids as a super star athlete they already admire, rather than as some rich man's son they're only vaguely aware of from the tabloids and gossip sites.

Imagine if Michael Jordan (or LeBron, for those too young to know Jordan was the one and only GOAT of the NBA) took all his wealth and influence and aimed it directly at a worthy cause? How much good could he have done, how much funding could he have arranged, etc.? That's what Dick could be.

It also provides Dick with as much money as he'll need, earned on his own talents, effort, and merit. I mean, he's DC's resident (male) sex symbol, he's the famously camera shy adopted son of Bruce Wayne, and when he was a kid people were already talking about his incredible athletic ability and calling him a prodigy. Dick is going to get very lucrative endorsement deals from pretty much every company who has a stake in the extreme sports arena. It's not going to make Dick "Lex Luthor" rich, but it'll make him more than rich enough for what he needs.

Oh, and one of those companies endorsing him could be Power Girl's.
