The range of characters is great, too. They're all just far enough off the radar that you can write them in specific manners and play with/add to their continuities.
Yep, that is the advantage to play with minor characters: more creative liberty inside some restrictions.

    Edit:
Who might they go up against? The Order of St. Dumas, to play on the knight connection?
    Or someone else entirely?
I was thinking Hector Hammond. But did you catch the reference team?

The Australian Govt. passes the Botany Bay Bill, declaring it’ll wipe the criminal records of any home grown supervillains who agree to join the T-Bolts.

    GALAXOR
The superhero version of a boy band, Galaxor was chosen by the Govt. for his good looks and designed to appeal to the widest possible range of demographics. He’s had his DNA tweaked, been pumped full of metagene activating steroids, outfitted w. some decent tech, and pushed to become a social media darling. A novice, he’s nonetheless made leader of the T-Bolts.

    TASMANIAN DEVIL
A veteran of multiple superteams, Taz isn’t given leadership of the team. Instead he’s there to make Galaxor look good, keep him safe, and make sure he doesn’t make any bad decisions that might endanger civilians. Yeah that’s gonna be a full time job.

    SHIMMER
A powerful elemental and career criminal w. no regrets, Shimmer’s only on the team to keep an eye on her brother, who really wanted to take the Govt.’s amnesty offer. She doesn’t think this’ll last, so she’s already got one foot out the door.

    MAMMOTH
Is really happy to be home again, and excited to try and be a hero. He figures, he’s fought so many of them over the years, that he must’ve picked up up some good guy skills in the process.

    CAPTAIN BOOMERANG II
The second generation villain is def. an asset to the team, w. his multipurpose weaponry and low level superspeed. Thing is, he has a secret agenda, working for a mysterious organization w. an equally mysterious interest in what Australia is doing w. the T-Bolts program.

    THYLACINE
Though relatively new to things, Thylacine’s already made a name for herself as a member of the terrorist group (or freedom fighters depending who you ask) The Revolutionaries and the Suicide Squad. She’s planning on using her clean slate and position on the team to her advantage in terms of the causes she supports.

Using the classic Alpha Flight line up as a starting point.

Hardware & Technique (Guardian & Vindicator)
The team leader and his distaff counterpart.

    CONGORILLA (Sasquatch)
Both Walter Langkowski and William Glenmorgan are white men who turn into huge powerful legendary orange furred creatures of local folklore.

    Black Mass (Puck)
Couldn’t find a good Puck stand-in so went the opposite direction. Puck was a gangly 6’6”, and was compressed to 3’6” becoming super dense. BM was a super skinny 5’5” 100lbs and bumped up to 9’9” w. various density/gravitational powers. Plus, both characters have the same type of headgear on their costumes.

Dr. Mist & Vixen (Shaman & Talisman)
Dr. Mist and Vixen aren’t a father/daughter team but they've worked well together before. Dr. Mist is a straightforward magic user for magic user swap. Vixen gets her powers from her Tantu Totem, much like Talisman gets her power from the Coronet of Enchantment.

John Henry Irons/Entropy Aegis (Madison Jeffries/Box)
Like Jeffries, John Henry contributes to the team as a brilliant engineer/tech guy. Both characters will also armor up in big bulky suits when going into battle.

    Djinn (Snowbird)
Not a demigoddess like Snowbird, but Djinn’s a member of an ancient powerful race, capable of all kinds of magic, w. limitations as the plot requires.

Kid Quantum & Kid Quantum (Northstar & Aurora)
A brother sister combo for brother sister combo swap. The Quantums aren’t speedsters but, they create stasis fields that can slow things down, in the short term, to almost but not quite stopped, and can speed things up again, dramatically.

    Aquagirl (Marrina)
This being Jacqui Hyde, the Earth-11 version of Jackson Hyde. She has all the standard Atlantean physical stats, along w. Both hydro, and electro, kinesis.

    X Force
Strong Guy/Green Arrow (thinks the idea of joining this team is ridiculous until they prove that he can be more aggressive in some situations than they can)
Multiple Man/Batman (capable of making the enemy think he’s everywhere)
    Wolfsbane/Nightwing (young, adaptable characters)
    Polaris/Robin (troubled kid)
Havok/Deadman (overlooked character, Deadman can have access to anyone’s move set)

^^^figured I’d give this one a go, it’s been forever since I did a DC build!

    HITMAN (Deadpool)
Tommy Monaghan was Deadpool-Lite for DC back in the nineties. Thankfully he peaked and disappeared so no more throwing up on Batman’s boots, somehow getting Superman to respect him, harassing Kyle Rayner, inexplicably showing up at JLA membership drives.

    ROSE WILSON (Domino)
So the team can have a leader that’s actually competent once Tommy steps down.

    MONSIEUR MALLAH (Gorilla-Man)
Mallah’s looking to upgrade The Brain’s robotic chassis, and that takes money.

    GLEEK (Hit-Monkey)
Earth monkeys can rip a guy’s face and nards off, so Gleek should be able to. Plus: Space Cooties!

    MANHUNTER LUD (Machine Man)
A robot w. an eyepatch? Very cool! Still, the team should be wary, Lud may actually be trying to take control of all organic life and liberate robotkind from humanity.

    DEATHWING (Masacre)
Trading an awful Deadpool wanna be for an awful Nightwing wanna be.

    SUN GIRL (Negasonic Teenage Warhead)
Sun Girl’s worked for Slade Wilson, so taking orders from his kid isn’t going to make her too happy.

    The New Metahumans

    Manhattan Guardian (Wolfsbane)
    Mother Champion (Sunspot)
    Johnny Fairplay (Cannonball)
    Major Victory (Moonstar)
    All American Kid (Magma)
    Guardian (Karma)
    Wildcat (Magik)
    Mister Terrific (Cypher)

    A Kahndaqi version of Excalibur.

    BLACK ADAM and ISIS
    (Captain Britain and Meggan)

The powerful flying brick and his better half, the fierce elemental. They’ve offered sanctuary and a place in their inner circle to…:

    THE CREEPER
    (Nightcrawler)

Creeper and NC are a fairly good match physically. They were even Amalgamed as Nightcreeper ages ago. BA, not known for his sense of humor, likes having The Creeper around as a kind of demented Court Jester, using his hallucination and fear inducing laugh on dissidents.

    NIGHTSHADE
    (Shadowcat)

The Creeper can’t teleport, but Nightshade can, by taking herself and others through the nightmarish Land of Nightshades. She can become an intangible two dimensional shadow and manipulate darkness. Like Shadowcat she’s learned spycraft and become a solid martial artist over the years. These are all abilities BA can put to use.

    KINETIX
    (Rachel Summers)

Kinetix was created as a kind of LoSH Jean Grey homage. As a red haired teen from a no longer existing alternate future timeline w. off the charts TK and TP (able to actually manipulate and re-shape solid matter with her thoughts) she has some Rachel Summers going on, too. An original character she had no counterpart in the LoSH’s New Earth or Earth-Prime continuities. When she died during Infinite Crisis she disappeared. Now though, the universe seems to have spit her out into the current DCU, w. all her top tier power and a head full of contradictory fractured memories. BA immediately swoops in and offers her a safe place to call home in Kahndaq.

A kind of Terrifics 2.0 to see how it might end up looking.

    Michael Holt (Mr. Terrific)
Still leading the team, still one of the smartest most innovative guys in the world.

    Markus Clay (Amazing Man III)
The big guy w. a social conscience. He can assume a rocky exterior along w. pretty much any other material thanks to his matter absorption ability.

    Honor Guest (Silencer)
She can’t turn invisible but she’s…stealthy, owing to her training as an assassin. Between that training and her ability to create zones of absolute silence, most ppl never see her coming until it’s too late.

    Isaiah Crockett (Hot Spot)
A human/alien hybrid w. pyrokinetic powers. He’s the youngest member of the team, but has a decent amount of experience having been a Teen Titan.

    I hate this.

I sometimes feel things like this is why we can't have nice things. (~_~)
My priority is enjoying and supporting stories of timeless heroism and conflict.
    Everything else is irrelevant.
