The Sandman is like Doc Strange in that he’s the trippy one that runs around various dimensions meeting all sorts of metaphysical beings, and he’ll gather the team.

Infinity Man is like Silver Surfer in that he’s the otherworldly Cosmic being w. vast energy powers.

Omac is like The Hulk in that he’s the big strong guy.

Orion is like Namor in that he’s the other big strong guy, and he has the hot temper, the Royal lineage and better than everyone attitude going on.

Can't believe I've never tried this one yet, given they're one of my favorite unsung Marvel teams. With that in mind, I give you the DC Comics version of The Rangers!

    DCRangers.jpg

    1. Red Tornado for Texas Twister (both have wind/tornado-based powers)
    2. Vigilante (Patricia Trayce) for Shooting Star (both blonde gun-wielders)
    3. Black Condor for Red Wolf (both Native American heroes with ties to animal symbology/abilities)
    4. Fire for Firebird (both flame-based women of Latin descent)
    5. Lightning for Living Lightning (both have lightning-based powers)
    6. Black Pirate for Phantom Rider (both spectral versions of heroes from past eras; Black Pirate here is the ghost version we saw in Starman)
    7. Starman (Mikaal Tomas) for Fifty-One (both aliens with sizeable powers that haven't been fully explored yet)
    8. Congorilla for Armadillo (both giant orange animal monster types)

Funny thing... when you said this... I didn't hit me but when the above poster posted the rangers... I realized that they ACTUALLY DID.

The 50 states initiative was a real thing in marvel during what? IDK the dark avengers or before or after right around that time.

    Now here the funny part.

Theres a list and you now those states I mentioned they randomly don't actually have initiative teams either. Smfh. Damn just damn.

Throw in Barda for Valkyrie and I’d buy it.

^^^That is some funny ass coincidence, damn!

You’re right on The Ukrainian sounding like a villain name.
Bringing in a villain and turning him hero would make for a great story; his handlers would be hard pressed to keep the guy from going off script. The Ukrainian might even start to like taking down his ex peers.
Then you’d have someone start fanboy/girl-ing him, looking at him like a real good guy...

I thought of Barda and Mr. Miracle as Valkyrie/Nighthawk expies. Was gonna look and see if Kirby ever came up w. a feline character at DC to stand in for Hellcat.
The Big Four and b-list Three are my favorite line up!

His name was Garrett Sanford, created by Simon and Kirby...

This Sandman was originally intended to be the actual Sandman of popular myth, "eternal and immortal", despite his superhero-like appearance and adventures. The Sandman is assisted by two living nightmares named Brute and Glob, whom he releases from domed cells with the help of a magic whistle. They are nuisances who beg for release, who are intent on hand-to-hand combat, but are implied to be relatively harmless and well-intentioned once freed. Using security monitoring devices, the Sandman can enter the "Dream Stream" or the "Reality Stream" (in which he acts like the superhero he looks like), and he carries a pouch of dream dust with which he can cause anyone to sleep and dream.

And if you want to go a step further, Jason Blood/Etrigan would work really well as a Son of Satan/Gargoyle combo!

What I would do is something similar to Hellcat's creation...
Patsy Walker, an earlier Marvel character, was re-envisioned as Hellcat.

I would take either June Robbins (of the Challengers) or Eve Donner (from Demon), and make a new version of Pantha.

I also agree with Gargoyle = Etrigan, another Kirby creation.

^^^That’s a great idea on retooling an existing character ala Patsy Walker.
I’d never have thought to go in that direction!

DC had the rights to Archie’s Mighty Crusaders for a little while and did a few things w. the property. I wanted to try a version using actual DC characters.
It didn’t come out as well as the Marvel build I did, but I spent too much time on it not to finish!
So, a multi-generational line up Crusaders style...:

^^^Thank you/there have been several versions. The team’s been shopped around different companies for years, gaining and losing members, who may or may not have sidekicks or switch genders.
Below are the three I’m most familiar with.

Like I said, the Marvel build I did came out better, but this one was okay.

With some exceptions like the recent runs at Archie and the upcoming Liefield version-most of their stuff is not in trades.

I think the issue for them and this is an issue Archie has is-not every store stock those books. Even with the Dark Line and recent reboot-it's crapshoot if you could find the books.

I would say in the right hands-you could easily have a book line that could get you into the kids/teen market.
