    Venom made his debut in the late 80s. Not that Michelinie's 90s stuff isn't to be discounted, but Michelinie made a major contribution to the 80s.

    The 80s is Spider-Man's greatest decade in terms of consistency and overall range of stories and the incredible number of key writers who made their mark on Spider-Man in a single 10 year period (Stern, Defalco, DeMatteis, Michelinie, PAD, Mantlo).

    Whereas the '70s is the Gerry Conway show.

    Venom came in the middle of 1988, which while still the 80’s, was at the very tail end of it. I just think Michelinie, McFarlane, Venom, et. al, had a far larger impact in the 90’s, rather than the 80’s.
