Default Aside from Ditko and Lee, who wrote the greatest Dr. Strange

Ditko and Lee's Dr. Strange was always one of my favorites. It's always seemed to me that far too many creators just don't seem to get the character. Aside from his creators, who do you consider The Sorcerer Supreme's best scribes?

Steve Engelhardt, followed by Roy Thomas.

Seconding Roger Stern. I hated that crap that Englehart did with Ben Franklin hitting on Clea

Brian Vaughn and Jason Aaron are in the mix. Mark Waid is doing real good work right now.

    J. M. DeMatteis is a personal favorite.

Roger Stern, absolutely. I also loved Peter B. Gillis' run.

I'm going with Englehart, Stern, and Gillis as my non-Lee/Ditko favorites.

Englehart and Stern for sure. Roy Thomas and DeMatteis are next.
Namor the Sub-Mariner, Marvel's oldest character, will have been published for 85 years in 2024. So where's my GOOD Namor anniversary ongoing, Marvel?

In terms of modern take: Brian K Vaughan’s was great, and a lot of it seemed to influence the film.
Jonathan Hickman would write what absolute incredible Dr Strange if he got the title.

    After Lee and Ditko?
    I'd say:
    Roger Stern
    Roy Thomas
    Chris Claremont
    Steve Englehart

It was actually seeing the film while scrolling channels that got me asking this. I really thought the film missed - easily - as much as it got right.

Same here. He hasn't written as much Doc as some of the others, but his work ranks among my favorite.

Roger Stern is probably my second favorite.

Over all Roger Stern, then Steve Englehart, whom might have come out on top, but had too many miss stepping stories for me among the brilliant ones. I think more of Gillis than I first did when I thought him a mere M Moorcock fanboy. Brian K Vaughan mini was pretty dam good, but still I put Stern first.
