    For comparison's sake, work on the Champions book resumed around 3 months before the new release date. Assuming they have a similar production pacing to Runaways (and I think they might, because both books managed to complete the equal amount of 2 issues before the shutdown), we may or may not hear about the writer and/or the artist returning to work in early November.

    Seeing that Ten of Swords is upon us, it occurred to me that among the plethora of reasons the book won't be back until February is the fact that they might have to/want to alter the issue with Wolverine depending on how things play out during the storyline. Not sure how Ten of Swords is going to end for the Krakoa folks, but if Runaways needs to alter their story a bit they certainly have the time.

    Yeah, Champions #3 had it's solicit text redone removing mention of an adult they can trust - who is presumably Cyclops, whose role may have been cut or changed because of X of Swords. Wouldn't surprise me at all if we see changes in descriptions for the resolicited Runaways issues in the next few months.

    While the solicit for #32 was put back up on the Marvel website with a February 2021 release, the ones for 33/34 still haven't been re-added there or on comixology. The X-Men plotline could be dropped entirely if the current X-Over makes the story unsalvageable without too many caveats.

    Nick Lowe posted some art from Runaways #32 on twitter

    This whole Stormbreakers class is incredible. I feel really lucky to be editing a whole BUNCH of them right now.
    @NatachaBustos
    is drawing MILES MORALES: SPIDER-MAN #22 right now (and hoping to have news on her RUNAWAYS #32 soon).

    The editor of the book saying he HOPES we get news on the book is not a great look, 'cause like, that's his job to know before everyone else. lol

    Nice page, but yeah it'd be cool if the book's editor had something to say about when it's returning. Even just saying February-ish would be fun.

    The editor decides on things like creative teams, but they're not in charge of release dates.

    But he can't do his editing job not knowing about schedule, can he? He's the one who likely notifies the creative team about things like deadlines. So even if he doesn't choose the release date, he would have to know it beforehand so he can communicate with the creative team. It's just a bit frustrating that every time someone involved with the book talks about it, they don't seem to know what's happening, even though the Marvel website has had a release date listed for a while now. Maybe they know and can't talk about it, but I don't see the harm in keeping fans updated.

    My guess COVID threw everything off and it doesn't help new projects got greenlit or those that were gonna get greenlit pre shutdowns.

    So now editors have some books while still having some books that got delayed.

    Also doesn't help the book having a new artist for 2 issues and regaining the other artist planned before the pandemic.

    Yes, while Lowe doesn't ultimately make the call it would be more than reasonable to expect him to be among the first to know. So either a decision hasn't been formally made or he just can't officially say anything.

    Genolet's availability could be an issue, that's true. There was presumably a break created to allow for some rest, but he has since done a few other jobs. Could have committed to a few others in the mean time.

    Man, all I had to do was read the first issue of Genolet's Battletoads to summon some good news. Happy as a clam, my contract at work ends next week and I have some books to catch up on.
