Lucy Van Pelt can show up just to pull the football away.

They pretty much already did didn't they? Grandma genetically modified Molly and her parents, which means all three are actually mutates. Maybe Molly agrees to go... but ends up either walking straight through the portal instead of entering it (like Franklin Richards) or hitting a solid wall and getting blocked (like Kitty Pryde).

Her folks were genetically engineered. Grandma referred to Molly as a "natural miracle" IIRC, which would imply she did no such things to her. It's enough of an out to say she isn't a mutant, but doesn't really confirm she isn't either.

I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility for her to go away for a few issues, it'd certainly be more unexpected than a flat out rejection. Or maybe she inherits a billion dollars, and duck tales it for a while.

It's nice that Pixie will be in the comics, but she should have been with some other X-kids, not with somebody starving for another teenage girl sidekick.

Honestly, the idea of a character trade would be kind of interesting. Probably not for long, but it'd be the most direct engagement the book has ever had with another title. I certainly don't expect it to happen, but Pixie kind of works for it. She's of similar temperament to Molly, and has being the daughter of a supervillain on her resume.

To be honest, I'm not really sure of Rowell's Marvel interest past the Runaways, although I know she wrote a She-Hulk story.

She likes the X-Men, with Beast being her favorite one. She wrote a story about him on that X-Men Christmas oneshots thing, and talked on an interview about how she always wanted to do that, etc.
