I’d honestly love to see her get heated at a council meeting and have to make some tough calls.

That's because despite having a few really great moments in a couple of issues, she doesn't do much.

Hopefully she becomes more important later and we'll have a narrative to talk about.

I agree. There is more to Jean Grey than a mini-skirt. It’s high-time we moved past Marvel Girl-gate.

I think Jean is well past the "Marvel Girl" name for current use.

For me she will always be "Phoenix". I think it's perfect, iconic, and this particular part of her history will always be connected to her because Claremont's run will remain more imporant than anything that will come after. Why are authors so resistant of making her Phoenix again? I don't get it...

What about "Supernova" as her new codename? Just a thought. "Atom bomb" unfortunately sounds stupid but I always loved the moment when Jean fought Sabretooth in the 90s and she said to him: "You're a firecracker Creed. I'm an atom bomb." Supernova goes in a similar direction but also evokes the cosmic nature and godhood of her powers. That's what Jean is for me.
