Yeah, it made the issue feel empty, the art was beautiful but outside of taking a look to Storm's mind (which was nice) the issue was dissapointing.
I remember all the hype about it, for months people were expecting this, looking precisely for these characters talking, lol.
Giant Size X-men was stunning!
And you know language exists beyond words right? They are telepaths and there was enough symbolism/non-verbal communication to feast for days.
Even if I don't personally care for it, I appreciate Percy doing character work for Domino. And it gives me hope for something similar for Jean in the future.
Cassara is the best artist for Percy's X-Force. He gets him. Him and his weirdness, and he translates it perfectly on paper. His art is a total fit for Percy's writing.
Happy marriage dare I say.
Solid issue being a huge fan of the original silent issue, this was especially a visual treat. But I get the criticisms dialogue between Jean and Emma would have added to the polarity of their relationship where it is now. As well as being admittedly a page for page re-telling of NXM 121.
That said it was the most I could expect from Jean under Hickman she hasn't been handled with care, but this issue with a big writer and amazing artist does do a couple things right. It delivers on spotlighting female heroes, gives an unique take on an issue for the current audience, and shows Jean in her element shining which I really enjoyed.
