lol flop but pics are bigger if you click
Hickman pretty much made this in response to another one created by a fan ("you have so much cash to make your best Dawn of X team" ). You can find the original on twitter (I just happened across it after I saw Hickman's version). I think it was made in fun (that is my guess anyway).
It is no secret he loves the characters of Sunspot and Cannonball (I think both are great characters). It was an interesting choice that he used Jean in his pic.
That's the same image he used for the "Free thighs for a free nation". I think he just knows people hate that he put Jean in this costume and likes to make fun of it.
Making fun or trolling. Semantics, sure (but as I am not in his head, I won't confirm it's either one or the other).
Anyway, there is no bad or boring characters, there is only good and bad writers. And geniuses. Jonathan Hickman is a very good writer.
By the way, I am still amazed how Benjamin Percy made Black Tom so much fun and interesting...
I love his trolling. He knows we have to put up with it because otherwise we'll go back to starving <3
Marvel Girl Works
Was Jean Grey reimagined as DOCTOR Jean Grey for the FoX-Men movies just to streamline the character traits of Jean/McCoy (Mactaggert?) for plot purposes? Or is Jean’s lack of career beyond working model “problematic” as a female character? Will it be so in the MCU where Janet VanDyne has been skewed away from the character’s fashion industry leanings to the scientist badass (Hope) paradigm?
Has she been shown to have any other job?
Maybe Ultimate Jean? Did Karen Grant have a gig besides student?
She was clearly a Beast stand in. I beleive the TPTB have stated as such when the film came out
In the comics Jean hasn't held traditional jobs. She did have a brief modeling gig (when Scott had a job at a radio station). Of course in the Morrison era she was a school administrator (acting headmistress). Jean has either some college education or a college degree. We know she took classes at Metro College and Columbia with Teen Jean attending some classes at Empire State (Extraordinary X-men). In the first issue of Extraordinary X-men she appeared to be in an anthropology course (but could have been a social theory course or even a psychology course).
We know Jean took advanced psychology courses in Columbia (X-factor) and I think it was said she took psychology courses and communications courses at Metro (original X-men issues).
Currently she is serving on the quiet council and on the latest version of X-force (Mutant CIA) which both feels like an occupation. I do think the X-men should have specialty areas and should have something resembling careers. The division of labor on Krakoa could lead to a lot of interesting stories.
Personally, I loved Jean as a school administrator. She would have worked well as a school counselor in my opinion, or of course as the headmaster.
Since Jean has some background in psychology what do you think would be Jean's area of focus? Experimental Psychology (research methods), Abnormal Psychology, mental health counseling/therapy, human development, another area?
