Not exactly. Maddie was into Scott but that wasnt bc of Sinister programming her to love him. She had a piece of Jean in her and it was Jean's love for Scott that fueled Maddie's feelings for him. Sinister just orchestrated the scenario that would lead to them meeting. The Phoenix made it easy for her to fall for Scott bc of what it brought to her when it animated her

Ahem, there’s an empty room by Havok.
Jean and Logan are clearly just two bros chillin' in a hot tub 0.00001 inches apart cause they not in a polyamorous relationship.
I edited my above post. That was Sinister's intent and all he was able to do was orchestrate the scenario that would lead to them meeting, aka giving her a false background and setting her up to work for his grandparents. It was the love for Scott that Phoenix brought to Maddie, that made her fall for him
here is the explanation from Inferno
the scene allowed both to interact with their chemestry witout logan being a creep or jean as a distant object and the melodramatic drama with scott, its a cute, casual and intimate moment that showcasses both characters pretty well.
Can we move on from Logan for a little bit and talk about this amazing feat when Jean combined their powers
This is something Hope can do and it was cool seeing Jean use her own powers in a creative way to achieve a similar effect
