I was just thinking about Claremont. He turned Jean into Phoenix. No Force replacing her. Then some other writers retconed that, and made the Phoenix story incoherent, over complicated.
Claremont turned Betsy into Ninja Betsy. No Kwannon. Then some other writers retconed that, and made Betsy's story incoherent, over complicated.
Why? I mean, is it an ego thing? Do new writers need to deconstruct what has been already established by previous writers? Does it concern mainly female characters?
Monet (created by Lobdell), she wasn't meant to be Yvette/Penance, obviously. Hama's take was not coherent. Yvette/Penance had her own memories (of war)... She could not be Monet.

Maybe it's really ego. Jean could be the Thor of the x-men (character with the power of god). I don't know if I consider these things creativity because they already come from others or laziness.

The only time we saw Jean in X-Books this week. She really isn’t in anything anymore. She better be getting her own storyline soon.
