Jean Grey: Phoenix/Marvel Girl Appreciation 2020

I doubt it. There was nothing indicating that she would get a new one after HOX. X-Force and X-Men #1 covers were done with her still wearing it. The Giant-Size costume was only cause Dauterman wanted to draw it.

To me the strangest thing is Jean calling herself Marvel Girl. Why not upgrade it to Marvel Woman like Sue did.

We have to remember that decisons were taken many months ago, Jean costume was decided a lot before fans started question it.

That would be a mess from a brand standpoint. Its too generic and its the name of the company that owns her o that will always supercede her in searches and the like

I’m not sure about a new code name for Jean. I’m fine with Marvel Girl for now though she long out grew the name. Just Jean Grey is fine. Phoenix is perfect but they messed that up with the whole break up story with the force.

Had she been Phoenix no need for Krakoa because Age of XMan never would have happened and the XMen would have been there to stop the latest round of mutant persecution.

Even XMen Red Jean would have disagreed with elements of Krakoa. So was put back in the green dress thing to be out in a background place for HoX. That story was really about Moira, Xavier, and Magneto redesigning the world for mutants.

Phoenix again. She’s repeatedly come back from the dead, with or without the force.

Anytime an editor approved it the breakup story with the force can be undone.
