I just read this. Was pretty decent. Art is really good. The writing was ok too. This new guy isnt bad . He wrote some Superman Man of Tomorrow stories as well and they were decent as well.
I had two issues with this. Hal was an Ahole to the guardians. I know since Johns took over it's been cool to make Hal disrespectful to them to show he challenges authority and I get that. But would be better to have it in small doses instead of being constant.
Also it's more of a Guy thing to be like that. For most of Hal's written history he actually respected the Gaurdians and they were benevolent wise ones. Also the GLC is a para military or.police force so realistically this constant disrespect wouldn't fly. But I guess that's just entertainment media.
Secondly but a bigger sticking point for me, was the whole story revolving around Hal being on Earth all the time and never in space when the truth is Hal in the comics is NEVER on earth and always flying somewhere in space away from.the rest of the DCU. Which annoys me . So didnt really care for this story trying to push this when the opposite is true.
My name is Wally West. I"m the fastest man alive. I"m the Flash.
Favorite Heroes - 1-Flash/Wally West, 2-Superman, 3-Green Lantern/Hal Jordan, 4-Nightwing, 5-Hawkman, 6-Firestorm, 7-Supergirl/Linda Danvers, 8-Zatanna, 9-Robin/Tim Drake
I think this book is supposed to take place during an earlier period of Hal's career when he did spend more time on Earth. I think the story itself was also meant to sort of break the 4th wall and speak to the fans who always ask why he isn't there.
