He's doing a cover, bur I'm not sure if it was mentionend he was doing a story as well. But if he's not, then I'm not certain what else this could be for. Mahnke is not doing Justice League after Venditti leaves as far as I'm aware and I doubt Hal would show up in a Death Metal tie-in issue or whatever.

It is from DC First Green Lantern and the issue is a modern retelling of the first time Hal and Alan Scott met. In the issue Alan is telling the story to Kyle Rayner
