There is literally nothing else they have in common. The only other non-adversial match-up is Storm vs. Thor but there it’s very obvious why they’re paired up.

Maybe they were thinking Inhumans vs X-Men? Though Kitty actually missed that event and Kamala didn't stay loyal to the Inhumans and formed a third faction (which included Moon Girl and Forge, among others).

Jubilee isn't even a decade after Kitty (1989 vs 1981). If you're looking for a more recent one, Anya Corazon (originally Arana, now Spider-Girl) might have been a better comparison. She debuted at around the same time the Runaways did, in the early 2000s.

I’m reaching/hoping for generational ingenue being the common factor. And Kitty being higher profile than Jubilee being the deciding factor.
On the one hand the Jewish vs Muslim factor could have just been an egregious tone deaf choice; but on the other would it be so out of the realm of belief that Kitty’s Jewish background would be (wrongfully) overlooked by a creative team ?

In the Dawn of X Era: Do I understand that on the Isle of Krakoa, mutants go by their codenames as their Mutant Names while in residence as part of the culture? What do they call Kitty when she does manage to make it to visit? Red Queen?


In the Age of X: Kitty Pryde's counterpart was called "Shadow" (a name which I kinda dig). Did we ever get a clear look at Shadow? I only remember a distant view of her in one issue.
