If I remember correctly Surge's family disowned her because her father doesn't believe in mutants and possibly only her brother has reached out. Dust's mother is still missing. Elixir parents gave guardianship to Moonstar. Wind Dancer's father doesn't really care for his daughter. Wither killed his Dad/Grandpa. Wallflower , Hellion and Prodigy were like the only ones with good family relations out there tbh.

I feel like they wanted to go some where with the whole Surge family disowning her story but just never got around to it, so now we will never get around to it.

I always liked how in HoM, Sunfire became a mentor to Nori. Even if it was a manipulation to separate her from her family.

Sunfire seemed to genuinely care for her like an uncle

Teens can work in bars in the US. Thats something that varies by state but I went to HS with a girl that worked in a bad when she was 18. Id say that all the New X-men have to at least be 18 by now. Pixie herself was in Fraction's run

Oh, that was meant snarkily. I worked in a bar at 14, but I'm pretty sure it was illegal (since liquor-by-the-drink was illegal there & then), so I've got no high horse to ride. I just think it's whack that they've got all these teen mutants like Anole and Pixie working the bars, when they've got 28761 adult mutants sitting around jobless.
