The plump features are reserved for villains or minor ethnic chars. Same old bias.

At this point, I only ever hope she's brown. I don't care if it's light, dark, caramel, or chocolate. But I want melanin-ated Monet.

Nice to see her somewhere else as well, depicted in human form, and brown. Also nice to see some full featured Egyptians in the back there.

I did like Larraz's rendition of her, so art is good. Hopefully she'll have a good role in the series. So I'll check this out, along with Empyre.

Being thin-lipped is in line with Monet’s early appearances. I remember Bachalo’s M bring commenters on as looking like “a cocoa Celine Dion”

What’s the story with Monet having the Penance form again now in the Krakoan Era?

But true to form, full features with brown skin isn't celebrated in mainstream. So many women of colo in comics have their skin whitened & their features shrunk so they all look like Halle Berry.

Unless they're villains, in which case they'll be dark with thick features to be depicted as more evil, sinister, or "ugly."

Chris Bachalo, not Joe Mad designed the character. Madureira just drew the first installment of her introduction.
The better argument would be that both artists tend to make all their female characters look alike.
