I do give DeFalco credit for his work in cleaning up some of the marriage's problems, but Johnny's move on Yera (or Lyja, it's not like they're that different) are still amazingly assholian. As for Yera (sorry, Lyja), can someone tell me why she's not thought to be a villain and is actually liked as a character?

She was written more as an antagonist or anti-hero who felt remorse rather than a villain. She was also forced into her role by Power Skrull.

Lyja's a member of the Future Foundation now. And they should be back, considering Alex and Julie Power are also on that team and Power Pack was supposed to reunited for Outlawed.

Lyja was also something that looking back I enjoyed. She did return briefly in FF: Secret Invasion posing as Sue. Last I recall, she remained in Negative zone to atone for her sins.

Wouldn't be too hard to meet up if FF went to Zone as I've said time and again.

Remember when Johnny briefly dated the Wizard’s daughter Cole.

I wonder if Cole will meet that Bentley clone from the Future Foundation.

Wait, what? She’s never been part of the Future Foundation, unless she appeared in the most recent series that I gave up on after two or three issues. If she’s in that I may have to look them up.

That’s too bad they went and tried to make her a villain again. I felt she made up for her part in the whole ruse against the FF... Though the whole Laura Green thing to get Johnny back was awkward... I always wished that Kurt Busiek or Fabian Niceiza had used her in Thunderbolts. (Any other iterations of Thunderbolts seemed to miss the point of them)

Lyja has not made up for what she's done at all imo. And it's mainly because Marvel won't call what she done by it's name: rape. Until they really call out what she did and how messed up it is then she's never be redeemed in my eyes. Plus a relationship with Johnny should be out of the question. She wasn't his wife, she was his rapist.

How much of a piece of **** does Yera, I mean Lyja, have to be to have rape so far down on her list of crimes for it to not be mentioned?

Johnny should just marry Crystal or Frankie and forget about Sky.

As I've said many times...Johnny should have had a subplot for a while of failed dates because he is not being fun Johnny but trying for a deeper connection and the women are looking for a good time. Then he finally makes that connection...Cole, Frankie, or whoever and we get a long running dating storyline for him.

I just can't stand the backpeddaling writers do when it comes to what she did. They try to frame their relationship as romantic when it was actually abusive. Even after her being exposed she continually stalked and manipulated him with the Laura Green and Alien egg fiascos.

I get slightly irritated they call her his ex-wife. The marriage was a sham.

It's really telling that MC2 did the Lyja Johnny plot better. For one, what Lyja did reasonably resulted in Johnny not wanting anything to do with her and then getting back together on better (read actual) terms. The only thing I don't recall it doing was calling it rape like it actually is, but it was managed better.

Wow....... Those are pretty strong words there, Crimz. Truth be told, I never thought about it, but you do have a point.

She did. Yondu was an imposter, turned out to be her. By the end, she officially joins the team.

The Yera, I mean Lyja, situation is understandable in some ways. She was created so as to help dissolve a marriage which was a horrible idea. Fans have the idea Lyja said she's sowwy and Marvel is left with a ripoff character who quite frankly has done some horrible things and been part of a reprehensible plan. A redemption of Yera, sorry Lyja, story could go a long way to make her out to be less of a villain, but even her role in Future Foundation was disguising herself to fool a bunch of kids. What fun!
