I thought issue 25 was a big status quo change? Nothing happened!

    Frank loses powers?
    Forever gate? Who cares

    Did I miss something?

The FF are back in the Baxter Building and OG Nick Fury and Uatu are now a buddy cop duo. I don't think Marvel actually said the two characters affected were FF members. Many of us thought Ben and Alicia adopting was the big change.

I think the forever gate is meant to be a status quo change for the entire MU as a whole, with the potential it brings.

Thinking more about it, the word forever was used in the promo, so this may very well be it. I'm still leaning towards Nick and Uatu as the two characters though,

I just love this FF: Road Trip variant.

Here's a first look at the book coming the 2nd of December for anyone interested.
Gotta say I'm not a big fan of the art, but at least it kinda gives me that horror-comic vibe.

I'm also not feeling the art. But I'm mainly getting it to see how Cantwell writes the family.

It's FF so I'm getting it. It's a rare book with the Fantastic Four that I wouldn't buy. Although the theme is horror, the family Road Trip seems like a natural occurence.

I'd love a book focusing on Sue and Johnny Storm. For siblings their interactions are so few and repetitive. It's always Sue telling him off for something stupid he's done. Their relationship should be more complex than that, especially when all they had was each other growing up.
It's a problem when Ben has more sibling-like interactions with Johnny than Sue does.

Sue must've already been an adult when their parents died else she wouldn't have been able to become Johnny's legal guardian.

Didn't they retcon that Susan has an aunt or something?

Byrne had a young Sue at her Aunt's rooming house where Reed was living. In any case, I think it's part of the FF's history that Sue was a caretaker for Johnny and placed a mother figure for him.

Both could still be true, sort of.

Sue was close to adult hood, her aunt went to the court to emancipate her, various reasons, but maybe because Sue was intelligent and that older guy Reed seemed nice to her aunt and wanted to support her/education.

Do you need "emancipation" when your mum's dead and your dad's in jail?

Oh that was Bryne first. I remember her from the Fraction run.

The downward spiral of Franklin Storm likely took years. I doubt it was overnight. So Sue could have been looking after Johnny for a long time before Franklin went to prison.
His spiral could have started in Sue's early/mid teens and he went to prison when she was 18 or something along those lines if we don't count the aunt thing.

She was just a kid there of course - was the Aunt still around by the time Sue was grown up? If not, it explains the original status quo of Sue being Johnny's guardian. The Aunt certainly didn't exist in the silver age stories.
