Precisely in that story Storm says that she and Scott were never close friends but that she always respected and admired him.

In my mind, Scott has stronger relationships with the O5. Colossus, Nightcrawler, and Storm are his friends but not that close because he had to be a leader.

I have been reading Claremont for the first time recently and after Jean dies I feel the person he is closest to of the ANAD team is Storm. They have a couple of really of good moments after he comes back.

One of the things I loved about X-Men #1 was the Lorna and Cyclops moment and how much he considers her a part of his family but they've interacted so little with each other through the decades people thought Hickman was trying to hook them up with each other lol
