Well it’s possible that the New Warriors don’t actually know what really goes on in these facilities. And given what a tool that Speedball has been since Civil War (seriously, does nobody even care to actually fix his character?), I don’t think brainwashing would be needed for him to fall in line with this.

Yeah, it would make more sense if the New Warriors, not to mention Dum Dum Dugan, didn't know what was happening in CRADLE's detention facilities, because I'm pretty sure none of them, in-character, would countenance that kind of thing.

Although one thing that does mess with the storyline consistency is that it would be really hard for them not to know about the instance at Miles’ school where CRADLE arrested and detained a group of Miles’ friends simply for peaceful protest. Given that a congresswoman and Cap has to get involved, that surely had to have ended up public. While not as up there with brainwashing teens, it’s definitely crossing a line that I’m not sure those that side with Kamala’s Law would be okay with.

I could've sworn the mentor thing was mentioned in issue 1? This article claims it was a revelation in issue 2.

Yeah, that was definitely bad enough in and of itself, and should be leading to a lot more questions about Kamala's Law among the public, whether they support it or not.

Jim Zub's run somewhat went there, what with Mephisto rewinding time so Miles and Amadeus Cho could save Kamala and Viv, and then it turning out that a girl they saved before died instead in the rewritten timeline, much to Miles's shame and regret, which led him to quit the Champions after confessing the deal he made to Kamala . . . all as part of a long gambit to corrupt the next generation of superheroes by filling their hearts with doubt and despair . . . only for his son Blackheart to wreck the whole thing by jumping the gun just to get revenge on Miles more directly for kicking his butt way back in one of Miles's outings as an All-New, All-Different Avenger.

Whoops, slight art error in today's issue. They try to get help from Amadeus but CRADLE are preventing it. He's shown with normal skin, when he should be in his Brawn or Hulk forms at all times.

The story has three main plots.

    spoilers:
Prisoners: Bombshell is forced to make a public statement praising CRADLE and apologising for the events of Outlawed #1. On a TV debate, Silhouette, one of the New Warriors, turns out to actually be on the Champions' side - maybe because she befriended Ironheart in her solo? Starling and Locust incite an insurrection in the re-education camp.

Viv: Viv, disguised in her human form from the Worlds Collide and Champion For a Day arcs, takes a bus to Kansas, where she meets a woman who takes her in and correctly guesses she's a runaway (but doesn't realise who she actually is, despite Viv using her powers to fix the electricity supply). Judging by how she talks about Amka, could it be that Viv has been hacked and isn't willingly ratting out the team?

Kamala's group: Yet again they get cornered by CRADLE, multiple times. A boy from the Forums lets them sleep in his treehouse, but they get discovered there too. They would've been captured if not for the timely intervention of Cyclops, who had Dust with him - Sooraya must've gone to Krakoa and told Scott what was happening.
    end of spoilers

    Meanwhile in Agents of Atlas...
    spoilers:
Amadeus has had enough of being manipulated and quits the team.

    spoilers:
I guess we have the "imprisoned members" but the covers don't really lie about this feeling like the teen trinity + Riri show more than it does a team book. Now that could quickly change, granted. I guess with Cyke and Dust at the end we have more of a team.

That was a nice outfit they let Lana wear for her little speech. Too bad they put her back in a prison jumpsuit afterwards.

Silhouette gets to be a New Warrior contradicting the CRADLE ideology, although I wonder if that's just because Eve Ewing has an affinity for her that she gave her preference over the other Warriors.

So Viv is on a sabbatical because she feels like the team "hurt" her after what happened? Does she not realize it was an accident? I mean, one they could have avoided, but still.

How many times have writers written The Avengers out of stories because of some non-descript crisis? Will they be on a crisis the entire time this storyline is going on to justify why they're not doing anything? Aside from Cap bailing Miles' friends out of jail in his tie-in.

Did CRADLE take Amadeus into custody or did he just not care about them going after his friends? The framing of that panel almost made it look like he sold them out.

"Our mentors are either looking down on us or MIA" it's kind of sad how true this is. Marvel mentors, if not necessarily through fault of their own, kinda suck.

Yeah, this book and series is a lost cause and it's not Ewing's fault, it's just it feels like the rest of the universe doesn't care at all.

In a way, that's the most realistic aspect of this story so far, that just about nobody else gives a damn what's happening here.

I love when they blatantly referenced it's just the Registration Act again, just for teenagers .

Pretty much, and with the exception of Captain America in Miles's solo series, the adult heroes that aren't helping C.R.A.D.L.E. seem to have washed their hands of the thing, at least from the Champions' perspective.

    spoilers:
The crisis in question was probably intended to be Empyre. But now, it must be King in Black - Power Pack and Fantastic Four combined reveal that Empyre happened before Champions (Power Pack #1 takes place on the same day as the final pages of Outlawed #1, the first day that Kamala's Law is in force, and Alex and Julie were still in space with the Future Foundation until after Empyre as shown in Fantastic Four) and therefore that crisis is over.
