Right?! Very cool effects and video timing! I wish they had added the ankle wings.

When he walks and right before he takes flight, it appears that he does have the wings in some views, very feint cgi ones.

He should have said to the brothers, "Surface dwellers, tell your world that Namor the First has arrived!"

And yes, Molina did Namor justice. ;p

I can't wait to see the rest of the Defenders. Hulk looks great, but I don't think I've seen Molina do Doctor Strange.
Ahhh...okay. I've been using a variety of markers, Artists Loft, Faber-Castell and Pigma. I haven't see the Copics but I looked them up and you're right, they are quite expensive.

I haven't done too many pics in color but I'm definitely inspired now!

Yes!! That would have been the cherry on top!

I agree, this video is awesome. It's like a video you'd see on the news. And great special effect with the water spray / torpedo trail, as well as the super fast flight. Thanks for sharing, Thor-El.
Namor the Sub-Mariner, Marvel's oldest character, will have been published for 85 years in 2024. So where's my GOOD Namor anniversary ongoing, Marvel?

I think Thor-El should do this video clip with himself coming out of the water! (We know how good his cosplay is and he would be perfect).

Copics are partly expensive because they are refillable. You could always try the black / graytones. I believe they sell a starter set of those and see if you like working with them. Here's a couple of images that were done with the gray tone copics.

    Wow!

Is this a game? Did they create Namor as a player character in a DC game?

Glad you guys liked it. I saw it and I thought how cool when Marvel finally puts Namor on the big screen!

Thanks for thinking of my cosplay. Funny you mention this as a photographer approached me on Instagram about teaming up for a photoshoot and I showed him this video, the guy doesn't know special effects but we might work on something static for Namor in a future Con but after its safe, possibly late next year. Hopefully by then I'll be back at the gym, working out from home is not the same.

I think that's what it is, the result is great! Really love the animation with so many locations.

I don't think so. The description said they were Atlantean heroes and that Namor and Dorma were going on a mission with them? They do seem transformed in the present day issue, but that doesn't appear to be in a divine fashion, IMO.

The Greeks had Valkyries of a sort, the Keres, but they weren't ... as positive as the Norse Valkryies. They are more monstrous than escorts to Vahalla.

Personally, I don't care for the idea of "wives in waiting" / segregated female body guards. I think the Atlanteans, at least presently, are more egalitarian than that. IIRC, both of Nara's parents, were part of the Royal Guard. There were two other named female Praetorian / Royal guards -- one in Wolverine and one in Captain America, that were on top missions. We've seen female warriors amongst the Atlanteans. In general, the way Everett wrote Namor, women have either had a larger role or a more equal role in his Atlantis and in Namor's life. Which, given the more mythical and symbolic feminine connections to the sea, is entirely appropriate.
Also Abira was a Trident, and Andromeda once said that she joined the Atlantean Guard because she wasn't taken seriously by her father's people. So I definitely understand what you mean, I was just speculating if the all female elite team was something that Busiek was going to do.

THIS IS SO GORGEOUS. Also I definitely hoped someday we might have had more Valkyrie/Namor moments too. WHY WON'T MARVEL GIVE US A NEW DEFENDERS ONGOING? The last mini and the tarot mini was way too short!

I would love this idea, but it MUST be with the original team (meaning any and all of these main characters): Dr Strange, Hulk, SS, Namor, Val (Brunhilde), Nighthawk and Hellcat ( but with other guest stars such as Cage, Iron Fist, Damon Hellstrom, etc).

The only Defenders series I loved was the original. I hated those other "Defenders" books Marvel later produced and they did not last long. With this artist (and/or others like this quality), with the correct characters and good stories, they could have a terrific Defenders book again!

Here's a brief but good article about the Sub-mariner animated series.

    https://cartoonresearch.com/index.ph...-in-animation/

Interesting how the author relates the way Stan Lee does a 360 on the animation studio, first praises them and then throws them under the bus. As you will read the Sub-mariner was the most difficult to create because of Gene Colan's style and the lack of silver age stories. They mention they created several original ones and in my opinion they were great! It is also considered the best one of the series probably because of all the original extra work the studio created.

I agree! The OG team/series was my fave. The latest one really nailed the characters when it all came together in the final book. I'm hoping that Ewing has plans to continue his involvement with Hulk with a new series or if Doctor Strange 2 comes out and Marvel pushes a new Defenders book.

Out of curiosity what was your favorite storyline for the Defenders? In any comic?
