I would love to know how the people at DC cook up their ideas. What do they use to gauge whether or not implementing a particular plan would be well received or even remotely successful? There just seems to be a huge disconnect between the audience and creative team/writers based on the materials pushed out for them to consume.
I know, it sounds overtly convoluted. Unlike Marvel, DC has rebooted its universe so many times that seems too late to choose to retroactively have one giant continuity.

Why DC wants to do it? Readers and writers can't figure out DC's continuity from more than a decade now and creating a timeline is hopefully going to fix the issue.

Agreed. That's exactly it. There is no true connection at present. We have not seen one authentically built. Instead, writers these days would rather assert that something is as they say it is rather than organically build and show it. There's not much depth to anything current.
Sadly, there are too many rewriting and focus of "fixing" continuity to build anything authentic between characters.

Now, on a different note. Speaking of the pandemic, I hope everyone is staying safe. Practicing proper sanitary measures. We are in unprecedented times, as we are dealing with this virus on a global level. Everyday the number of cases keep rising, and the way of life has been fundamentally changed. It just goes to show how interconnected we really all are.
    Be safe guys.
I would never expected to ever experience such a thing in my life. Can't wait it'll be over. 😩

Except this 5G plan just isn't it.
I guess I'll keep watching from the sidelines until the next reboot or "soft reboot", whatever they want to call it. 😏

Good luck to them with that approach.

    So true.
The U.S. just surpassed China in the number of confirmed cases, so it is really hitting us here. Life as we knew it is completely changed. The question is when can we anticipate it being over? It's a lot. In addition to keeping safe, one of the best things we can do for ourselves is to mitigate becoming overwhelmed from all the negative news with other activities, while still paying attention to facts and guidelines coming from healthcare professionals.

I'm so confused. Also, going by the "everything happened" premise, it means Clark and Diana have been both bestfriends and lovers in this reality. Which then begs the question of what exactly happened?

It makes me think of Dwayne McDuffie's JL run in which reality was changed and Wonder Woman and Superman were married. After Superman's death, Diana quit the League. However, when she learned there was a chance of him being alive again even if it meant them not being together, she took that risk so that he may live.

Kind of makes me think of such a possibility for this current reality, maybe giving up her relationship with Superman was Diana's sacrifice so that he could live?
I mean, Superman, at least the one shown in the panel above, supposedly died at the end of New 52. In addition, we know that reality was changed which is how this Rebirth came about. On top of that, this present Diana appears to have memories of differing realities, including her and Superman being together. So who is to say that the parallel I'm drawing from this confusing current run and McDuffie's JL run isn't far-fetched? 🤷🏾*♀️

YES!!!! YES!!!! This would be a true love story! This would be the kind of sacrifice I see Diana making for the one man she truly loved! This would be something memorable! This would be an end that I would consider acceptable (until the next reboot) for SMWW!

    Right?!
It's the only thing that would make any of this remotely make sense. Also, it is more in character with the selfless Diana I have come to know Wonder Woman to be. I can see her making such a sacrifice if she thought there was a greater benefit ultimately for a lot of people.

Like you said Deia, it would certainly be much more memorable and I think impactful also.

In these times of crisis we must thank God (if you believe in Him) and human goodness. We must thank the true heroes ... whoever says that Superman and Wonder Woman does not exist is simply ignoring that they exist within each professional who ventures in this crisis for the sake of the next. Bravo! All my respect and gratitude to them.

Can't blame you to not like this approach. I myself find questionable the Frankenstein's monster that DC's continuity has become.

Btw, I'll keep the folks here updated if there will any development on the SM/WW side of things.

It would also explain why she became so different from Diana that we love ... a part of her would have died along with him ... a part of the soul, of who she is. So I could understand why the character is so "lost".

Since Rebirth 1, continuity has become such a mess! No offense to those who liked it but to make the changes that were made, the way holes were made and more holes were dug, stories were modified in an absurd way, antagonistic situations were created ... What DC should have done is what they always did did and did well, with mastery: REBOOT.

And let DC make no mistake, the comic book industry will take an unprecedented punch ... they should start to wonder if now is the time to test something new or stay in the comfort zone. In my opinion their way out is straight ahead: the Multiverse! Give everyone what everyone likes!

Certainly. Just like the characters for whom this thread was created were representative of the current issues of their time when they originally appeared so are the contents of this thread, I guess you can say.

    Another hopeless romantic detected. 😜

I'd say that DC's continuity is messy as a whole since IC, and since Birthright for SM alone. Other franchises had already problems during Post-Crisis.

And let DC make no mistake, the comic book industry will take an unprecedented punch ... they should start to wonder if now is the time to test something new or stay in the comfort zone. In my opinion their way out is straight ahead: the Multiverse! Give everyone what everyone likes!
My guess is that they'll play safe and don't risk with stuff like replacing their main heroes as they planned.

But, sure, they should use the Multiverse to give us what we want. 🙃
