How they could've know that? Preparing "synergy" year(s) ahead, you expect everything will go according to the plans. It was more than a year before the DCEU officially started with BvS that SM was already heading to an overhaul also thanks to Snyder's plans (*cough* marriage/kid *cough*) that were a sure thing on paper.

They couldn’t have. That’s why it was a bad idea to put their eggs in one basket having those expectations and no back up plan. They were so confident in this one idea closing off everything and when this didn’t meet expectations, they are now stuck not knowing what to do.
SMWW met expectations and beyond. Continues to do so with what we see with daily posts etc. but yet, it’s closed off because unnecessary counterproductive reasonings leaving so much on the table. It would be different if the ideas SMWW was stopped for did better but that hasn’t been the case.
