They are marketed together at least since the 70s. But, at the moment, it seems that mainly the custom merchants are the ones really capitalizing on it.

Official stuff here and there like recent Hot Topic phone case and the socks(still don’t know the store however)
But yeah 50+ years of these two characters being marketed together before being a canon couple and still custom merch gives the idea of interests so for SMWW to still be at the top of that is a big deal.

It wouldn't even be a departure from the classic depiction of the characters. I mean, pre-Crisis Supes had fully embraced his heritage and uniqueness and many versions of Diana did it too. Just go back to their roots and update to modern storytelling.

But anyway...new52 wasn’t perfect, but gave a gateway to true modern storytelling to gain the modern wider audience interest with Superman having a backbone and embracing his heritage.
Wonder Woman has never had a problem with this exactly, however, the problem is oversimplifying “love” and “compassion”. She needs balance with being a warrior, not going too extreme.

Lego Geralt/Diana is next. 😉

The phone case was on Hot-Topic since the holidays, I think. The socks don't seemed recent.

(still don’t know the store however)

Maybe those socks can be found also online like the ones shared by Hellacre a few months ago? 🤔

But yeah 50+ years of these two characters being marketed together before being a canon couple and still custom merch gives the idea of interests so for SMWW to still be at the top of that is a big deal.

🤔 The images used obviously have them as a couple. The descriptions of certain products gives the “perfect gift for couples” or his/her. Even if not, it’s an automatic expectation or belief that it’s for couples. So either way you slice it, it all still seems counterproductive.

What a waste and missed opportunity for the markets/audiences DC/WB needs. It would be different if what the were doing now had direction and more success but it’s staggering. Why not push for what’s proven to be a success?

I'm sure that having them marketed together in some fashion will never go away as well as using SM/WW art from the New52 for official merch.
