Yeah, seems so with merch coming up here and there.

But seriously...SMWW has become a brand of its own as the “Power Couple”. There’s so much more potential as we’ve only seen not even the surface scratched. Has there ever been another comic book couple that has had an opportunity partnering for a fragrance set with a companion comic? Being part of all year round special occasions/holidays etc? Even custom merch gives a broader idea of interest.

Yeah, it's big and could potentially be even bigger than most could ever imagine.

It’s even more disrespectful and sounds bitter when said preferences aren’t moving mountains as it’s propped up to be. 🙃 New modern concepts resonate better with the new audience. It is what it is.

And have more story potential too.

Exactly. It’s a lot of shoddy attempts but it doesn’t help none of the characters involved and you end up with fans vs. fans or lost of interest period.

Diana deserves way more respect, especially when she is the only super heroine DC has that more widely known and is the one who young girls admire the most. She’s not a step or a crutch for other characters.

I don't have much confidence because of Jurgens' involvement with the Gen. books, but we'll see.

Ah what?! 😱 Geez... Digital first was DC’s best bet in general. Oh well... maybe Walmart books if that initiative stays.

It seems that digital firsts were replaced by the new initiatives for bookstores and Walmart.

In the comic, Diana had a one sided attraction to Superman. In the movie, he's the one making a move with her instead. However, it just could’ve been Diana having her own general reservations than the drastic change as well as piling on “men ain’t sh**” ranting.

But taking SMWW scenes/lines are becoming way too obvious and frequent and doesn’t make any sense. They take the emotional depth out of it as well already established development.

They switched who's attracted to who. Sort of. 🤔 A romantic connection between the two would've made the drama stronger later on though.

I don't understand how two people (ok fictional characters, I know, I know) with such high morals, pure hearts, sincere and innocent souls can make people imagine that their union would be a bad thing unless this prejudice is based on unfounded fear that two super powerful foreign people (an alien and a princess who came from an isolated island) could become a danger to the common man and that such a union could generate a superior race considered oppressive. It is fear, prejudice and xenophobia in a pure state disguised as a ship.

The entire handling of backpedaling has been handled in such an unprofessional, misguided by bias preferences way. Throw away development actually building and being shown in an organic way to stuff happening off panel/screen and again with the, this is how it should be mentality is just tacky. And let’s not forget, even with it being successful, the idea was still to mess things up and backpedal just because can’t get too far out of the safe zone.



Bold: We’ve discussed this before and I’ve said it before. There are many factors shadowing this mindset of with all of this fear, prejudice and xenophobia. This idea of “being grounded, human” and the “American Way” thing is so far outdated with its ideals and the message it sends. We are in a time that more people are unapologetically celebrating their culture, their beliefs and having confidence within themselves not worrying about fitting in and being accepted by a society who thinks they are superior. With Superman going backwards with this idea that his “otherness” is a burden and wants to psych himself out as just “human” who happens to have powers...but not just that, it goes so far as to push the idea of privileged passing.

Superman/Kal-El/Clark is an Alien of another planet. Period. Wonder Woman/Diana is an Amazon (still of earth) but of a mythical island. Refugee and Immigrant. Foreigners. No matter how you slice it, that’s what it is. That’s part of what makes them the complexed characters they are and should be. To water that down to be accepted by one society and believe that’s how to connect and resonate with the audience shows how out of touch some are.

And look, we are not even touching on a really delicate aspect: religion. Here we have the two most powerful beings in DC (yes, they are. Period) and they are not Christians! SM literally has already stated that he does not "believe in God" in a formal way and Diana belongs to a polytheistic and pagan religion! How complicated it must be in the mind of the ordinary, Christian, nationalist, reader to have to accept the union of two beings that differ so much from the traditional Christian family.... "Refugee and Immigrant. Foreigners" and non-Christians.
