There's not even news of someone hired to write the movie, or what approach they want (will they make a X-men movie directly? Multiple films like the Avengers? Making a more traditional super-hero film? Taking some Krakoa elements? Will the main X-men start as teenagers or adults? Will we have a school of some sort? How are they going to introduce mutants? Etc, etc), let alone already having a cast, and not only that, the first name they cast is Emma, who's by no means a character who's certain to appear in the first movie, or even the first few, and they go to a big superstar, which is not what they usually do.

I dont think Emma would among the first character cast nor do I think any have been but they most definitely are in talks about casting characters. That I believe. Just bc we dont know something doesnt mean its not happening. They'll announce things when they are ready

The rumor channels I have watched all say they plan to put some X-Men characters into other films first, ranging from cameos, post credit scenes, and some important secondary roles in those stories to build them up before going all in with a full X-movie. So casting now seems like a reasonable possibility.

No offense to gaga but I doubt they are going for older cast? I feel like they would go for 20s , late 20s tops for the "adults".

Specially for a role like Emma, who they would likely use for more than 1 movie, Gaga seems unreliable as she might do other stuff since she is a "serious actress" now.

Yeah, that's a factor as well. Specially if they want to pair her up with Cyclops, who'll certainly be played by a younger actor.
