I get you you are saying. However, the main thing with John is will power. John is gonna be a hero regardless of his parentage.
Too many heroes got daddy stuff going on for my taste (as Bored posted). Hal Jordan & Guy Gardner have become way too defined by their fathers, imo.
John was seen as special since birth by the Guardians, and that is more than good enough for me.
Whether he was decent or not, it is not a deal breaker if Poppa Stewart is never mentioned in this case.

As far as I know there is Mom, grand parents, a brother, adopted brother and a dead sister. At least before New 52 removed families from most characters of color.
I just don't want deadbeat Dad to show up to make certain agenda lead folks feel good. Got enough of that mess in Black Panther.
Absolutely. I do not want John's dad to be an issue. Too many daddy issues in GL comics, but, if there does have to be some explanation for why John has never mentioned his dad in decades of publication, it better make for a damned good story.
Can we all agree that Winnick's MASH finale ripoff flashback tale for John never happened and nobody ever needs to bring it up again. John has a dead sister, yes, but that story was embarrassing.
I'm sorry for keep repeating this, but I'm going to say it again: I'm SUPER SUPER excited that John's getting a solo on the MAIN title!!! DC is definitely on my good side right now. I'm glad that our voices were loud enough to be heard.
When did John have a brother or a sister (besides the unconfirmed Lynn idea)? Before Crisis I assumed he was the only child from his mother's comment.
I know for sure back in the 90s, around when Kyle was Ion (iirc), there was a whole thing about his guilt over causing and accident that killed his sister that was preventing him from walking after Parallax!Hal cured his paralysis (from when Darkseid's son beat the brakes off him as a Darkstar).
THE SIGNAL (Duke Thomas) is DC's secret shonen protagonist so I made him a fandom wiki
also, check out "The Signal Tape" a Duke Thomas fan project.
