Karen Starr: Power Girl Appreciation 2020

Well... if what I read is true and Carol Danvers is a Power Girl knockoff created by Power Girls creator after switching to Marvel we kind of have it (minus PG sassy humor and costume) :P




So annoying. I'm collecting the JSA by Geoff Johns volumes. The currently last one ends with PG being introduced in the last page. I really hope it gets a Vol. 4.

I have the three 1000-page omnibuses and, I won't lie, I was side-eying those trades. I just can't justify it with my current apartment.

I was hoping Karen would be in Stargirl, she was kind of a big sister to Courtney sometimes and I thought it would be cool to see her.

I’m surprised Powergirl hasn’t made an appearance in the new Harley Quinn show yet. Seems like something she would show up in.

I don't know. Its a fun tongue in cheek (in comparison to TAS) ultra-violent show. But it does does appear to intentionally blunt irreparably tear down some of the good and heartwarming things the comic series carefully had build up like Harleys connection to her parents. I can fully imagine them adding PG would be in a way which would make me start to despise the show.

Omnis. I love seeing those giants in my collection. Like big leading archaic battleships showcasing their significance *sigh*

I hate reading them though. Cannot take them with me in the train/bus; bought a bible/quran book stand extra for them to read them without breaking them in any form :P

Doesn't it? She could step right into Legends or Stargirl I'm thinking. But she probably won't, though Stargirl looks like it might be fun.

This one looks like it sort of combines the nu52 waist thing with the general design elements of the Injustice 2 PG skins, (there are two of them with inverted color schemes), and some new stuff. I kind of like the forearm bracers she's wearing here. Not that in invulnerable character should need them, but it emphasizes that she's a tank. And like the Injustice skins, I think the pants work better. Less like a gymnastic costume.

I'd argue that a super strong, nigh-invulnerable character like Karen needs an armored/durable costume just so it can withstand the same amount of punishment she can.

I never liked Jim Lee's New52 costume for Superman, but without that post-Crisis bioelectric aura, the suit being armor did explain why Clark didn't end every fight naked. It's less about protection and more about modesty.
