You’re not missing much. Bendis was not fit to helm a story like that.

Don't read the finale of Empyre X-Men if you're reading this book only for Wanda. If Hickman does a good job with some powerful female characters like Monet (except in this issue (but the mistreatment afforded by the other writers certainly didn't help)), Sue, Magik, Emma or Moira (this opinion may be unpopular but I was impressed by everything she has accomplished in seven lives to protect mutantkind, Moira is very powerful in her own way), he doesn't seem to appreciate Wanda (I don't blame him for not loving her, it's his right, but I'm disappointed for you, Wanda fans, because her treatment in this book was frankly not glorious

My hunch is that Hickman (and indeed some editors at Marvel) are pissed at Kevin Feige and the MCU.

It's absolutely astonishing that with her Disney Plus show is just around the corner there is little promotion of her other than trashing her in an X-Men comic.

    It's barely concealed spite.

And maybe, I know this sounds extreme, only allow female writers to write her. With the exceptions of Busiek, Englehart, Robinson, and Zub, almost all the male writers who have written her have pretty much trashed Wanda.

How does Wanda seem in the new Strange Academy series?

Is she still together with Jericho Drum?

She hasn't appeared much (she's featured with the other teachers in the first issue, and teaches in the second) but that seemed good enough for a series that still focuses on kids learning to master the mystical arts rather than seasoned wizards

As for her romance with Jericho, it's not discussed, but I think it has more to do with the book's focus on students

That's a terrible idea. Also how many female writers have actually written Wanda

Kelly Thompson did a good job with Wanda's appearances in Star

However, it seems that Wanda managed to gain some fans thanks to the book. Some found her more sympathetic and sincere in her actions

Well obviously she was too megalomaniac in her intentions and fucks **** up but that also could be used to describe almost every single Hickman character lol. I do believe that his intentions in this mini were to portray her as an actual flawed human being, in contrast to the devilish image that Krakoans seem to have of her in the main series.

My problem with it from 2004 on is it wasn't how she was. And there's two different characters at play. Her in Avengers related stuff and her in x-related stuff. She becomes what they need her to be for events. And to perhaps rile up the x-crowd. Which could be seen as antagonistic.

I do think having her show regret and trying to make up for things is a good thing. My biggest problem is how Strange treated her and how the narrative seems to go with that, painting her as dumb and naive.
