Beast Boy is at least age appropriate and he was on Damian's previous team, but why is Donna there? Because the team needs an adult again?

To be the new team leader, probably. Titans teams are usually led by either a Robin or a Wonder Girl. By the way, Garfield is probably a bit older now, due to New Teen Titans being back in continuity.

Yup, looks like for the foreseeable future John Stewart gets to be the token black dude on Justice League while Cy more than likely gets booted back to the Titans lol. Let’s see if he gets better utilized there, but I’m not holding my breath as I still don’t think DC knows what to do with the team. Though I guess I’d welcome a relaunch with the cartoon line-up even if it’ll probably be as boring and uninspired as the Titans book in Rebirth.

Pretty sure that the last issue of Teen Titans will lead into Endless Winter and that's why those two are there. They're the Titans alumnus in that issue.

Yeah, they didn't want to reboot New Teen Titans - but in that case, they shouldn't have rebooted Wonder Woman either. It's not Crisis itself that caused Donna's problems, it was Diana starting from scratch. It meant that Donna was actually a superhero before Diana was! And that meant their respective codenames no longer made sense, so Donna's was changed, and her powers and origin with it. It's entirely a mess of Perez's making, as he was the Wonder Woman writer.

There was a story going around that the first year of Perez's run on WW (or the first major arc) was supposed to be like a year one, and then move to "now" . That would have meant Diana made her debut earlier, with Bats and Kal, and wouldn't have messed up Donna. But the ptb liked the idea of WW arriving later and having her be a fish out of water....so that idea stuck.

Whether or notnthat story was true, I'm not sure. But rebooting Diana wouldn't have had to mess with Donna, at least not too much, if things had happened that way.

They get captured by Joker and have to be rescued by Batman. For some reason it's the exact roster from the 2003 cartoon - the team's comic counterpart should've also included Wally and Donna. At least that should mean this isn't canon!

Not to forget that team, particularly Starfire and Beast Boy, are exactly same design as their 2003 cartoon. Since this issue was more about collections of one shot then canon storyline, I think it was just for an Easter egg for cartoon fans.
