Seeing the occasional returns of characters like Bumblebee and Lilith Clay, I sometimes wonder what the 80's Wolfman/Perez Teen Titans relaunch would have been like if they had no new characters at all, and Lilith took on the Raven role (she could even have the same ties to Trigon), and Bumblee and yet another version of Mal Duncan took the places of Starfire and Cyborg. (Given Mal's changes from Vox to Hornblower to Guardian, IIRC, it would not have seemed terribly out of line for him to actually *become* Cyborg! Karen could even be part of his backstory, being involved in the fight that led to him needing to be 'borged up' and integral to developing / implementing / maintaining the tech, perhaps.)

I do enjoy the new characters they introduced (and sometimes prefer newer characters to endless wheel-spinning with unchanging established characters), but it could make an interesting Elseworlds/Imaginary Tales sort of thing (and it's not like Lilith, Karen or Mal are exactly stuck in a rut from decades of overuse).

I would definitely miss the Tamaranean outer space connection, although I suppose Golden Eagle could guest star to bring in some space opera.
