So I went to Barnes and Noble and saw the new edition of the Marvel encyclopedia on the shelf. I grabbed it raced home to read about black panthers updated page because he's on the cover and I see that his superpowers say... Olympic-level athlete combat specialist weapons training...thats it

Im like...ok.. then I go to read about Doom, Reed, Ant-Man and others. Under their superpowers it says super-genius level intellect.

    I'm like okay....

Then I go to read about Shuri....and her powers state Advanced genius level intellect.

And ppl wonder why i hate on MCU Tchalla's depiction.
if it's not corrected now then it's going to be the standard in the future for all versions of him.
He will be nothing more than a more athletic Noble Wolverine
I mean, these encyclopedias dobt do much research. I saw one at Target talking about the women of Marvel and it had a bit about the Dora milaje and pretty much all the information was based on Coates nonsensical garbage. So for them to bot research about T'Challa isn't surprising.

And MCU T'Challa is genius level intellect. He did create the CW habit.

Really all we need in the sequel is a scene where tchalla asks Shuri to make some adjustments to the habit and provide her with his schematics, to which she replies that they are extensive updates and why does he need them when the habit works perfectly, to which he gives her the same line she said to him in the first movie about improvement. This would obviously be light hearted scene and calls back to the first ad an ongoing joke between thr two.

Simple fix, establishes T'Challas super genius and Shuri still has her niche because obviously he doesn't have the time to do it himself as he is King

In a better world where the MCU was ok with the 1st Black Panther movie being 3 hours.

They really could have used his "awakening" to make him create his Black Panther suit again or an old throwback form of it. Iron Man 1 style of working with scraps to create another suit during Killmonger's reign. Kicking ass and then stealing the other BP suit for the eventual showdown.

I don't mind Shuri making a better black panther suit. I'm perfectly fine with technology specifically being her thing as well as a better ability to physically fight.
I don't need MCU Tchalla to prove he's the next Tony Stark or better. What I want is for them to go to Tchalla when there are questions that arose like finding out more about the powers of the mind Stone..... Instead of saying let's go ask to Tchalla they said let's go ask Shuri.

That didn't happen in his movie but Coogler can fix this. He needs to give us a Tchalla that looks like either Priests or Hudlins. So that i dont have to buy another "Official" Marvel Encyclopedia that makes Tchalla sound like just a Hybrid of Daredevil and Wolverine while expressly pointing out Every superbrain's (now including his baby sister) Superhuman genius level intellect

Yeah, I think Shuri needed it since Okoye and Nakia took on the fighting aspects. Having a third fighter would have been somewhat redundant.

That said, I was always a little disappointed in hindsight that Hudlin didn't think to go this route when Shuri first debuted. At the time she would have really stood out. Now with people like Val, Riri and Moon Girls smart teenage girls are somewhat more common place. Still, because she has the movie it's probably more her thing than any of her peers.

So are you saying that it's necessary that Panther is diminished for the sake of building the Shuri character? How about writers that are paid to be creative figure out some other kind of power set and let T'challa be his full self.

    One more time...

Black Panther... Significant Other/Love Interest... Rogues Gallery... Wakanda... Period!

Every time that Black Panther strays away from this concept money is lost except for the movie which technically is the only time this intellectual property has seen a legitimate profit!

Shuri was great in the movie but Killmonger and "I never freeze" Nakia set the narrative from A-Z!

The Significant Other/Love Interest and Rogues Gallery is settled between those two characters but for some reason everybody and they momma tries to expand outward with sidekick characters that cannot hold it down on their own and really don't move the narrative save for quick gags and giggles!

It's like every new writer (except Redjack) wants to SPAZ out all over the other characters trying to sell you on this Birds of Prey type of agenda and that flops hard in the revenue department as if Disney aint trying to pay some bills!

How many spinoff comics will they keep trying to push or at the expense of the main character develop other franchises characters that no longer belong in these hallowed halls!

The key words here are... Tone Deaf!

The title says Black Panther... Let's start there!

Next New Writer: "Thanks for hiring me Marvel I can't wait to get started on those ensemble family reunion distant baby mommas cousins uncles nephews next door neighbors pets!"

Black Panther: "Hey what about me?"

Next New Writer: "Your name will be heavily featured on the cover and I pinky swear that you will be featured on at least three random panels in your own comic but I really wanna focus more on the tribe that lives underneath the waterfall and struggles to pay their bills and make ends meet so sight tight!"

Black Panther sits stranded on the side of the road with a sign saying... WILL WORK FOR FOOD!
    Get Hectic!

My suggestion isn't even about having T'Challa prove he is the next Tony Stark. It's literally there just to be a throw back and an ongoing joke between T'Challa abd Shuri about upgrading tech. Having her be the one saying it works perfectly and him throwing it back in a playful way, while then having her protest and telling him not to use her own words against her, is all in good fun while simultaneously establishing T'Challas super genius without ever having to show him tinkering in the lab, and keeping the Q role as Shuris because she is the one making the changes to the habit.

Imma be curious on the new suit design.

100% getting one, have to, have to sell toys lol.

I think instead of a new "base suit," we are going to see a secondary suit for a special occasion. Like an invisible HZ style suit for some mission or something.

T'Challa isn't necessarily diminished simply because both are uber smart. They can both be smart.

It does potentially split the tech feats, but T'challa has a lot of other attributes to highlight.

The MCU have flat out stated in interviews that Shuri is the smartest person on the planet, so she's likely the go-to person for anything.

You so know that your basically saying that T'Challa would be diminished right? Your saying he isn't necessarily diminished then go on to explain exactly how he would be diminished.

Frankly it's this. T'Challa, in HIS book. Gets the lions share, he doesn't have to split, he doesn't have to share, it's HIS book and everyones job in said book it to support him to make HIM look good. Period ends of story. In the MCU there is room for adjustments because it's not the 616, however, it should still be clearly established and known that T'Challa is a super genius. He doesn't have to be the smartest on the World, but he is definitely up there among the top

Again, Shuri being smart doesn't diminish Tchalla. There's no law in fiction stating only 1 black person can be smart in a book or movie.

Does he HAVE to split feats? No. Doesn't mean he can't and shouldn't have a supporting which can contribute (effectively taking some of BPs feats).

Ultimately building up Shuri helps BP so it's not really a problem.

It doesn't help him when games are currently being released where Tchalla is dead and Shuri is the ruler of wakanda.
