Ach! Where's Maj? Don't always agree with him but he is hardcore BP.
Reality is for those who are afraid of science fiction.

Sadly, the powers that be perma-banned him, for reasons I am not privy to.

I only hope, wherever Brother Maj is, this recent news has given him joy.

On my part, this news fills me with cautious optimism.

My final reaction is dependent on whom gets the book afterwards, and whether they come at the title with any agenda other than good storytelling.

There's definitely a name I _don't_ want to see, but civility precludes me from revealing who that is.

I do kind of think if when we hear things like needing a black writer for Black Panther, or a female writer for Captain America, there is sort of a built in agenda outside purely telling a good story though. I think there's a certain presure to be "woke" or whatever the proper term is when we start thinking and hiring in those terms.

Not saying that's necessarily a bad thing, or that good stories aren't obviously a pre-requisite, or that the black or female creative teams aren't qualified on their own merits regardless, but I think for certain characters like Black Panther or Captain Marvel I almost think some sort of social agenda probably is built into the process at this point.

Now I just hope Coates puts the pieces back where they go so the next writer can just run with "normal" Wakanda/Black Panther.

It's possible to tell a good story and have a social agenda at the same time.

But after over 40 years of reading comics, experience has shown me that it's not likely.

    So, again, cautious optimism.

I think a lot more good stories have social agenda's than we think... we just often don't notice or don't care.

THat said, can't go wrong with cautious optimism.

I didn't like the Redjack's plotline he shared on his website and his BP in his BP quest animated series was several leagues BELOW the awesomeness of BP in Avengers EMH.

I want a writer who pitches the book because, first & foremost, they want to tell good Black Panther stories.

If they want to talk about social injustice, economic inequality, racial politics, gender identification, climate change, or whether Star Trek is better than Star Wars, that's fine... as long as their first goal is to tell good Black Panther stories.

I'd love for Kevin G to do a run.
