OR, a better idea, you can start BP2 with T'challa having to scale a mountain filled with various McGregor/Hudlin type creatures to get the wild variant to restart it. Ala from comic book BP worthiness trials. That would be cool AF lol

I came up with about a half-dozen ways to bring back the HSH without thinking hard. That was one of them.

Jason Aaron is really good with T'Challa in the most recent Avengers issue. Without spoiling for those who haven't read it yet, he's got an insanely good capture on BP's voice and writes him with the gravitas and level-headedness that's been missing in his solo. Cordial and measured, but confident and badass at the same time.

Empyre was... ok. He got a neat little scene with the Skrulls but not much else. I do find the director's cut interesting, as apparently he was originally supposed to say something along the lines of "I gave up an interstellar empire". Not reading the main title anymore, but if that means Coates has plans to let him keep pieces of the IGEW then I'm excited to see what could happen in the relaunch.

He also had a great showing in Conan. I'm not sure if Ahmed (who's one of my top choices to write BP) has been reading Coates but he follows up on a connection made in the second arc about the Elder Gods in Wakanda. I like the reverence his War Dogs give him but also his kingly sense of understanding. He had a solid fight against Conan himself which went well lol.

Overall I'm happy with the showings he's gotten today. At a time when he's always questioning himself in his solo it's nice to see him project power and confidence without it blowing up in his face. At least not yet lol.

MCU Shuri would essentially be given a mantle she doesn't want/hasn't shown any interest in, or a role she would wildly reinvent to fit her persona and abilities.

What's gonna happen on challenge day? MCU Shuri seems to prefer energy gauntlets. She won't be able to use them against her opponent.

How are they going to get more heart shaped herb anyway? Would it even be a thing or just a handwave-y "We genetically engineered a new crop." line.

We haven't met MCU Bast yet, besides seeing her silhouette at the beginning. I think she'll hand wave a new garden.

So the Serpent Crown was a plot device in Zdarsky's Invaders, and at the end of that is no longer relevant. It has nothing to do with Avengers, so it's just in this Conan mini. So it's not important.

The impression that I got from MCU Shuri is that she doesn't even want to be in charge. She's more than happy being in her lab making stuff. She loves being part of the royal family, she loves her mom and her brother, but she doesn't want to be a superhero or a queen. How are they going to get more heart shaped herb anyway? That's why I think t hey should give T'Challa a child by the end of the 3rd movie. The herb is in his DNA and he would pass it on to his children. The solves the issue of not having the herb anymore.

It did come out, Ahmed did a pretty good Tchalla and a female HZ. It was a Conan book, so more directed at him, but I liked it.

Avengers had some McGregor inspired porn for Tchalla, but he came through near the end. The overall story is still Aarons' best Avengers arc so far.

The thing is, Shuri isn't Nakia or Okoye. They're already fighters...which is something that hasn't yet been established for Shuri. She MIGHT be and we just haven't seen it yet... or it's something they can develop overtime. But at this point, I think the fact that Shuri was overlooked in the discussion of who to give the heart shaped herb is a descent indicator that being a warrior probably isn't her strong point yet. But of course things change.

But I do agree she doesn't want to become Black Panther. And I think that's what gives her a character arc here. I don't think Sam or Jane expressed any interest in becoming Thor or Cap either, but they'll be walking around carrying a shield and a hammer pretty soon.

The thing is marvel is basically setting up almost every single character to have a replacement. We know Captain America and Thor have one all set ... that's confirmed. There's good reason to beleive that Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Iron Man might as well. She-Hulk is getting a TV show, and a teenage Cassie Lang now exists who can potentially take over for Ant-Man. Disney isn't stupid... they know that unlike in the comics actors age and decide to move on. Unless Disney wants to abandon a potentially billion dollar IP, they're not just going to let it die once an actor is ready to walk off into the sunset. They are going to want to keep it going because the IP has potential value even without the actor. In this regard BP is no different than Cap or Thor or the rest.

You can argue it doesn't HAVE to be Shuri. She's the most logical choice (given she's still fairly young and it would be a move consistant with the source material), but obviously they can do a different route if they want to. But I think it would be a mistake to completely discount her entirely.

It's not discounting her, it's simply she is basically a different character entirely from her comic counterpart and there's no reason tpush for her to be BP other then simply because comics. Its the same with Storm, and same with nakia. But right now the focus should be on T'Challa and how he can be elevated to new heights
