    Uncanny X-Men #256 Dec 1989
Acts of Vengeance: Part 1 of 3. "The Key that Breaks the Locke!"
In Hong Kong, Matsu'o Tsurayaba approaches the Mandarin with an offer of
an alliance between his organization and the Hand, a ruthless clan of assassins.
Matsu'o's deal is for the Hand to help the Mandarin build an empire unparalleled by any in the past,
in exchange for gainful employment in its service.
To begin their alliance, Matsu'o offers a gift; that of an ultimate assassin.
    This assassin is Psylocke.

What follows next is a surrealistic "dream" sequence as Betsy relives details of her life,
undergoes a physical transformation from British to Japanese at the hands of the Body Shoppe
with nightmarish versions of Spiral and Mojo causing the transformation

and her being set against her teammates, who she murders in order to obtain each of the Mandarin's ten rings.
In the end, Psylocke defeats the Mandarin himself who takes the form of Slaymaster

and it is revealed that the "dream" was a sensory deprivation brainwashing experiment
that the Hand used to finalize their assimilation of Psylocke into their organization.
In the end, she returns the rings to the Mandarin, to whom she pledges her undying loyalty.

NOTE: First appearance of the ninja Psylocke.

Story by Chris Claremont. Art by Jim Lee and Scott Williams.

    Fantastic Four #94 Jan 1970
"The Return of the Frightful Four!" First appearance of Agatha Harkness.
Deciding to name their baby Franklin Benjamin Richards (honoring both Sue's father and Ben)
Reed informs his friends that they are going to bring baby Franklin to a child
rearing expert named Agatha Harkness, who lives in a mansion on Whisper Hill.
What the team is unaware of is that the Frightful Four has reunited and plans to attack during their visit with Agatha Harkness.

That night after introductions are made, the FF retire for the night as guests of Agatha.
When the Frightful Four break into the mansion, they incapacitate Ben and the Torch, then trap Reed and Sue in their room.
Planning to kidnap Franklin, they are first stopped by Medusa who had only joined up with the group to help protect the FF from them.
However, she is bound by the Trapster's paste, but the Frightful Four are then defeated by Agatha

and her cat Ebony, unleashing her magical might and defeating each member with ease.

When the FF free themselves, they are shocked to find all the villains defeated. They find Agatha quietly rocking Franklin to sleep.
When the Thing spies a book about the Salem witches, Agatha hints at the fact that she herself is truly a witch, which spooks Ben.

Script by Stan Lee. Pencils by Jack Kirby. Inks by Joe Sinnott.

    Daredevil #117 Jan 1975
    "Mind Tap!"
Continued from last issue...With Daredevil and the Black Widow as his prisoners,
the Owl is planning on stealing Daredevil's mind. Explaining it to the Black Widow, the Owl is hooking up Daredevil to
an absorption machine that will drain Daredevil's mind leaving him a mindless husk. The Black Widow manages
to break free of her restraints and blasts the machines with a widows bite, destroying it and saving Daredevil's life.

As Natasha fights off an army of the Owl's men she holds her own

until the Owl threatens to kill Daredevil unless she surrenders.
With no other choice the Black Widow stops fighting and agrees to do the Owl's bidding.
He promises to let Daredevil go if she carries out a single task for him.
As the Owl is briefing the Widow on her mission Ivan goes to police headquarters
and speaks with Paul Carson to see if he has heard anything about Natasha recently.
Paul agrees to go along with Ivan to look for the Black Widow.

That night the Black Widow carries out the Owl's plot to kidnap a woman from a nearby condo,
the identity and reasons of which the Black Widow has not been told. Attempting to capture the woman,
Natasha finds herself up for quite the fight, when the lights are turned on she is shocked to find that
the woman she has been sent to kidnap is none other than Shanna the She-Devil.

While in New York, Candace Nelson is excited that the government is opening an inquiry into the Sallis Papers
and that she has been named a star witness. Foggy is less than impressed because she broke the law
and got away with it, and despite her good intentions he feels that nobody is above the law.

Back in San Francisco, Ivan and Paul spot Black Widow swinging across the city with Shanna and decide to follow them.
The two women are working together to free Daredevil, so when they arrive at the Owl's lair,
Shanna pretends to be knocked out while the Black Widow brings her in. The Owl does not suspect this,
nor is he aware of how Shanna recently gained super-human abilities since he recently got out of prison.

So when Shanna springs an attack the Owl is caught off guard.

Although they free Daredevil, the Owl unleashes a blinding gas,
which naturally has no effect on Daredevil because he is already blind.
He attacks the Owl head on. However the crook attempts to make an escape,
leaving Daredevil to defeat him on the streets with relative ease, even without his Billy-Club.

After having a new Billy-Club built for him by Ivan, Daredevil and Black Widow meet on the Golden Gate Bridge,
where Daredevil asks Black Widow to come back with him to New York. She declines his offer,
wanting to be able to make her own and not wanting to have to rely on him to support her.

Daredevil accepts this and the two depart with a kiss.

Script by Steve Gerber (plot) and Chris Claremont, pencils by Bob Brown, inks by Vince Colletta

Marvel Two in One #7 Jan 1975
    "Name that Doom!"
In Central Park, the Valkyrie abducts Alvin Denton while the Thing and Dr. Strange
use the crystal of Agamotto to locate the Valkyrie, as they were told in the last issue
that she had stolen a magic harmonica from Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum.

In the process, they discover that it may not have been the Valkyrie at all.
The Thing flies off to Cobbler’s Roost, Vermont, to question the real Valkyrie.
However, the Executioner and the Enchantress stand in his way.

The Enchantress reverses Valkyrie's powers and changes her back into Barbara Norris.
Only the Thing and Alvin Denton stand in Amora's way.

Denton sacrifices his life in order to allow Thing to use the harmonica
to restore all the damage done by the two rogue Asgardians.
Valkyrie grieves the loss of the man she just rediscovered was her father.

Script by Steve Gerber, pencils by Sal Buscema, inks by Mike Esposito.

    Spider-Woman #22 Jan 1980
    "Bring on... the Clown!"
The Los Angeles area has been terrorized by a killer named the Killer Clown, who has been targeting young women.
The story gets the attention of Scotty McDowell, who sends Spider-Woman
on the job to track down the Killer Clown and bring him to justice. While out on patrol,
Spider-Woman stops the Killer Clown before he can kill a young girl the Clown had picked up hitch-hiking.

With the young woman seriously hurt, Spider-Woman is forced to bring her
to a hospital for immediate medical help, allowing the Killer Clown to get away.

Leaving the hospital, Spider-Woman is unaware that she is being followed by the Clown, who tracks her back
to Lindsay McCabe's home, where as Jessica Drew, Spider-Woman is running late for a dinner date with her friend.
When Jessica goes down to the store to get items for their dinner, Lindsay is alone in the house
when the Clown mistaking Lindsay for Spider-Woman attacks the girl.
When his joy buzzer device does not kill Lindsay, he is about
to strangle her instead when Jessica returns to the house.
Panicked, the Clown flees, leaving Jessica to call for medical help.

The Clown, resuming his civilian identity of Casper Whimpley, returns home to his overbearing wife Roberta.
After being interviewed by the police, Jessica decides to watch over Lindsay in the hospital, believing
news reports about her survival could prompt the Killer Clown to come back and try to finish the job.
Sure enough, the Clown does just that, and after a brief battle,
Spider-Woman is able to fight off his gimmicks,

knock him out and turn him over to the authorities.

Script by Michael Fleisher, pencils by Frank Springer, inks by Mike Esposito
