I had a glimpse of scene in my head from X of Swords:

Magik seems to have the upper hand in her duel, but we suddenly see her from behind, run through, the enemy's sword coming out her back.

We cut up to Satur-9s balcony, with Illyana in the Empresses' clothes looking down at Satur-9 in black leather gear, disemboweled.

"Well, isn't that special?" Magik says, looking sad and sly, and as glam as Sinister.

That's utterly pointless nonsense. She's fighting a giant crocodile and has had zero interaction with Saturnyne. There's no point in making it convoluted.

I've been re-reading, and I completely missed this before; I have no idea why this momentously ironic scene never entered my consciousness before, but some of what dhalpin3 writes just clicked for me and I looked up the Rasputin Reunification.

In Uncanny X-Men #600, Piotr, Illyana, and Bobby all comment about Kitty about to marry Peter Quill, 'StarLord', one of statistically abnormally many 'Peters' she's fallen for over the years.

If Piotr knew this dynamic at the time but didn't suspect later... did a certain someone muck around with thoughts, feelings, and memories, or was this about Editorial at the Marvel Offices?

My understanding is only the Richards' marriage is allowed to thrive in Marvel; all others end up horribly as per Pym, Parker, Summers, etc.

I am sorry to disagree but poly-marriages, like any marriage, can be incredibly happy. I have been in a triad for 15 years and we could not be happier. I am not certain that what Scott, Jean & Logan have is happy or that it should be written that way. Even the Reeds have had their share of strife. I would love to see Illyana in a poly relationship as I see her as being on the Ace spectrum, maybe Demisexual, making it easier.
