I would love to see Al Ewing, Joey Bennett recreate their magic with Adam the way they're handling the Hulk mythos.
Captain America and Blue Marvel probably isn't edgy enough.

But U.S. Agent and Blue Marvel could work. They are the perfect embodiment of the American experiment. Only the power dynamic would be on the other foot. But deep down, both men share quite a bit in common.

There are probably a million ways to make Blue Marvel more popular. But popular and well-liked aren't necessarily one and the same thing. Marvel's fanbase will need more time to come around to liking Blue Marvel. And no, I don't mean to suggest that is a given.

Now that the copyright issues around the Bradley family seems cleared, it would be nice if Marvel/Disney made a tv series about the "lost history" of the MCU, mixing elements from "Legend of Blue Marvel" and "The Crew".
And the issue of Adam quitting"? That could lead to a clash between him and Patriot.

Well... U.S. Agent, Blue Marvel.... the problem is that there's Blue marvel is a scientist and a god. So... who woudl be the 3rd?
A magic user of some kind?

I think that has to do more with the types of adventures that come to them more than anything else. Idk.
My priority is enjoying and supporting stories of timeless heroism and conflict.
    Everything else is irrelevant.

So you're saying it was Marvel posing restrictions on Kevin's writing? Do you think Kevin wrote a story where he didn't give in to the executive order and Marvel sent it back?

I don't know anything for certain, but I wouldn't be surprised if Kevin G simply wanted to stay within logical canon.

Though it's not as if he hasn't been saddled with stupid mandates by editors before. Anyone remember his New Warriors?

I'm really starting to believe more and more that Marvel is not good at writing powerhouses outside of Thor and Hulk. And even still they struggle with the former.

Because people will throw a hissy fit if they're ever portrayed as though they're struggling.

    Fandoms are like that.

Very possible, however as long as there's balance and it's well written that will shut lots of the idiot crowd up. We barely have seen interaction with super beings or even alien armada's in space with advanced technology enroute to earth. Obviously I don't really like the plotting for King In Black, I think it's kinda flimsy. A few heroes get a little page time but mostly Captain America, Iron Man talk and throw Sentry at Knull??!!

The Kookie Quartet had only one of the 4 -- Super Soldier (Captain America). Scarlet Witch may have near god-like probability powers now, but she didn't back then. No one would confuse Quicksilver or Hawkeye for being either scientists or gods. There are other versions of the Avengers where you had redundancy in terms of brainiacs, god-like beings and super-soldiers.

At the end of the day, it all comes back to the type of stories that a creative team wants to write and/or the characters that they want to use. I'd be totally happy with an Avengers team like this:

    U.S. Agent
    Blue Marvel

And any 4 to 5 additional members from the following...

    The Vision
    The Wasp
    Iron Man
    Quasar (Wendell Vaughn)
    Shang Chi
    Sersi
    Spider Woman
Psylocke (Kwannon -- just to borrow someone unexpectedly from the X-universe)
    Scarlet Witch
    Hercules
    Songbird
    Hawkeye
    Darkstar
    Wonder Man
    Firebird
    Monica Rambeau
    Beta Ray Bill
    Satana
    Thor

Considering how often our heroes have faced cosmos-wrecking foes, you'd think the response to such things would have improved by now. But I guess we're supposed to believe that a crisis intervention plan of burying your head in the sand until it's time to draw sticks to see who deals with the crisis is the way to go. This as opposed to forming a team with a specific mandate designed to tackle all end-game crises in ways that the Avengers, FF, Champions, X-Men, or whomever generally cannot because of their fluctuating rosters and the disparate levels of power and effectiveness of those rosters.

And no this isn't necessarily about Knull, but I bet when he is finally defeated we'll probably find out that at least one other person, if not multiple people, would have been equipped to deal with him just as Venom will, albeit without the additional power boosts that Venom is going to receive.

I wonder if this is a result of that "every comic is someone's first" principle. The writers are portraying these characters as rookies in some way in hopes that it will endear them to readers.

    I'm not saying that's a good idea, it's just a theory.

I think it’s just the jobbing principle. You sell the threat level of your antagonist by having him wipe the floor with the heroes in the first Act. Then they spend the Second Act finding the McGuffin that will bring the villain down to a beatable level. Then you get the big fight in the third Act where the heroes are pushed to their limits but manage to overcome the villain through team work.

I mean, they seemed pretty well prepared to me. They had Tony Stark's first line of defense, they were on the ground and ready to respond, they had one of the most powerful heroes in the universe ready to rip Knull in two as he had done to so many before. They all knew exactly how strong Sentry was, so seeing him torn in half while Knull drags an army of /symbiote controlled celestials/ behind him... Even if they had Hyperion, Blue Marvel and Sentry all there together, the same thing would've had to happen because that's the necessary setting of stakes, and the power level Knull is meant to be running at. the guy has symbiote controlled Celestials following him around for god's sake. Like every new villain before villain decay sets in, he's meant to top the previous threats.

We know Dylan will be key to stopping him, we know that Sentry's got a role to play. I'd like to hope we'll get more from other cosmically powerful heavy hitters but there are only so many pages in a book.

All good points, but by now it's a given that Marvel is going to feature a "street level" character to end the threat of Knull. That's their shtick. There will be amps and McGuffins, but truly cosmic level heroes for the most part appear primarily for threat level validation only. How does that saying go? "There's always a role for the little guy." Only with Marvel it's more like, "We always save the biggest roles for the little guy." Hey, if it works, why knock it, right?

I mean, it's a Venom event, so of course Venom is goijng to play the pivotal role, but that doesn't mean that we won't see Thor or Sentry (or maybe both! merging to form a Silver Sentry style Thorntry Golden God!! Sorry, I still can't get over 'Silver Sentry'.) playing big roles in the fight against Knull and having cool moments.

You gotta have room for the little guys, or else why include them? It's okay fo them to be outstripped, but everyone ought to have an elevating moment or why include them, you know?
