Well, that could be an interesting twist, considering the end result of when that happened...

In vaguely related news, we haven't found out what she did with Nicky Fury Jr, right?

It was very nice to get Steve's POV again. As much as I loved getting into Sharon's headspace, Steve was still missed. I also liked how he reflected on the people in his life. I've always liked Team Cap, and I'm a firm believer that a character is only as strong as their supporting cast.

However, I'm not versed enough in Ross and the Hulk situation to know how to feel about the ending choice/perspective.

This certainly has me thinking about their character alignment, especially since Steve touched on the idea of "blind trust" in his narration.

Was Nick Spencer's run on Cap including Secret Empire really that awful?

I'm playing catch up with a bunch of stuff and I was wondering if I'm better off just skipping it.

I would say, at least it did attempt to speak to a lot of the topical issues plaguing America between 2015 and 2017 --- not that those issues stopped plaguing America after the run was over, as events this past year would demonstrate --- particularly loss of trust and faith in democratic institutions among the public as tribalism, factionalism, nativism, and even outright fascism began taking hold in "mainstream" American sociopolitical/cultural discourse.

As someone that didn't pay attention to it when it was coming out and read recently (thought i still need to finish some of Wilsomn's run) it was mixed, the build up to Secret Empire was fun, the result not so much.

Yeah, if Spencer had been able to stick the landing with Secret Empire --- and not try to duck and weave around whether or not HYDRA was Nazis --- the whole thing probably would have been better-received, I'd think.

Yeah exactly, it is really good. I also liked Secret Empire a lot.

I think people started freaking out as usual before reading the entire event.
