Steve in Avengers #29. I love it when writers remember the fact that Steve is one of the greatest, if not THE greatest, tacticians in the MU...

Empyre: Avengers #1 cover and synopsis...

With the threat from the stars now reaching Earth, Captain America sends out the call for heroes to meet its advance across the globe! But in the far–off Antarctic Savage Land, Ka–Zar and the Agents of Wakanda have located an enemy offensive that could change the course of the conflict! Which Avengers will answer the call to this remote area and will they be able to cope with the strangeness they find there?

Wow, that is quite a team! Also, the artist is Carlos Magno, who did the art for Invaders (writer is Jim Zub).

I'm getting some Operation Galactic Storm vibes here.

Suprisingly that is one of the most overlooked and underrated Avengers stories. Cap had some good moments.

Agreed. I think about Galactic Storm a lot. It did posit an interesting moral dilemma. And bless Clint for being such a doll, having to be legit knocked out in order to leave Steve on that planet.

Yeah, this was one disagreement between Steve and Tony where they actually made a plausible argument for both sides and no one came off written ooc.

Exactly, I was torn on that one. I mean, I'm a firm believer in due process, but the Kree Supreme Intelligence was SOOO awful (since we're talking mass genocide kind of awful), and it was, technically, a war-time scenario/situation, so... both sides had a legitimate argument.

The other great thing was the resolution. They met afterwards (in the Cap book). They had an honest discussion about it. They left that discussion understanding each other better, stronger for it. It was nice.

    This seemed appropriate for today...

Steve moved to tears by MLK's speech when Tony played it for him to catch Steve up on history after he had just got out of the ice.

No problem, glad you enjoyed it. That page never fails to move me no matter how many times I've read that series (Man Out of Time is my go-to escapism, I reread it whenever I need a pick-me-up because it never fails to cheer me up).
