Over the forty-two years since STAR WARS first emerged in popular culture, it has generated vast amounts of merchandise and curios...some of it rather silly, and much of it highly memorable. In this thread, we're going to celebrate the most notorious STAR WARS-related merchandise and curios of the past forty-two years, particularly the vintage material.

We'll start things off with Kenner's first stab at a lightsaber toy, which was basically an inflatable balloon attached to a flashlight handle. I never owned one of these (always wanted one, but could never find one back when I was a wee young STAR WARS fan), and of course, much, much better quality lightsaber-based toys/curios would emerge in the years ahead, but they had to start somewhere, and this was what was available during STAR WARS' first burst of fame in the late 1970s:
