It was Thunderbird. And the Warlock subplot is gonna be slow burn, Hickman isn’t just gonna tell a full plot line out that’s clearly going somewhere.

He does, he’s happy to see Magik when she finds him out. We don’t know why he’s hiding but we do know that Doug, Krakoa, and Warlock have been in cahoots for awhile. I personally think they’ve already met Moira but it’s possible they haven’t.

Warlock meeting moira makes no sense, otherwise why would he need to hide? She'd be the biggest detractor against him cause he's a direct technarch and the last major timeline we see of hers was ended to prevent said Technarchy.

Giant Size X-Men: Nightcrawler reminded me of Cypher's first meeting with Warlock in New Mutants vol 1 #18.

Cypher was roped in to communicate with Warlock due to his mutant power of speaking in any languages including alien languages. At that time, Warlock couldn't speak English.

This time it is used to communicate with Sidri's alien language.

Anyone else wonder what it's gonna take for the team to get their own damn individual costumes? I really feel like they should be at that milestone by now.

It would have been cooler if Cypher's right arm was actually part of his costume rather than Warlock hiding there.

I feel that arm is quite unique.

This chapter and the crucible clearly suggest people just think it's a cyborg arm.

I love the deigns they currently have. The only problem is the generic black/yellow color scheme. Just give them each a unique color (pink for Karma example) and I think they'd work very well.

The decision to go with a ensemble look that says “MAGIK (and the New Mutants)” is unfortunate.


The “uniforms” are gently individualized: Mirage has a loincloth, Cypher his jackets, Wolfsbane short sleeves, Karma a tunic length top, Mondo wears shorts, Chambers wrappings (where’s his leather jacket???)etc.
I gather Illyana’s Bachalo design is popular with tptb as part of identifying her as a breakout star but some concession to the group look (A yellow stripe down the center!) would do wonders.
