So it seems that Cypher won't be the one carrying the X-of-Swords after all?
After all the excitement... Then what are all these images for?

Why so when it’s been hinted that she had this ability even during her new mutant days...when she was possessed by daggers powers she shape shifted into a tall long haired woman ... Excalibur is when they really started playing with her fine control of her mutation. While she won’t ever be a full on metamorph like mystique, being able to do some shape shifting tricks seems like a natural progression of her powers.
Jessica Jones (ALIAS) was mentally enslaved by Killgrave the Purple Man for an extended amount of time, used for his evil ends etc... and much story and characterization has been drawn from her post traumatic stress from that experience. The character has gone on to be quite successful and adapted into other media inspiring great performances.
Xian Coy Manh was mentally enslaved by Farouk the Shadow King for an extended amount of time and used a instrument of furthering his evil agenda, her body was distorted from Farouk's perverse use of it etc... not much has been done with story or characterization of Karma from the fallout from that part off her history.
She got thin and then not much...
I don’t think any X-man’s story is as tragic as Karma’s.
She was gang raped by pirates while her mother was raped to death right next to her. With her father being killed while knowing what’s about to happen to his family.
Her evil twin brother is trapped within her subconscious.
Shadow King takes over her body and gorges on food, turning her into a gluttonous monstrosity.
Later she deals with her kidnapped younger siblings by being in forced servitude by her evil uncle. She loses a leg. And then her older sister tries to kill her.
Yet she’s actually one of the most least cynical mutants.

It would have been interesting had Karma not lost all her weight and remained a fat mutant. I dont mean morbidly obese like that, but overweight and constantly struggle with that
I noticed that unlike Charles, Ororo and Betsy.....Shadow King never went after Karma again.
As small and less physically imposing as she is, Karma really put Farouk in his place.
Actually, Chris Claremont took real life stories of the exodus of the Vietnamese boat people back in 1978-1979. I read that there were many pirates there who robbed and raped the refugees back in South East Asia. There was even a cover page of a 9 year old Vietnamese girl running naked when her home was bombed in Vietnam during that time.
Karma was created in 1980 so it's not coincidental and this is a real life story.

They dont like each other. Karma's one of the few telepaths thats been able to breach Illyana's mind and she's forced her to do things before, most recently in Dead Souls when she used her to kill her brother. Illyana also blames her for them all becoming TO infected. That makes her uncomfortable around Karma. Prior to this Illyana used Karma and Legion to get her soul back and gambled with the world. They have a history of mistrust and using each other
Actually no. If there's anyone who understands Illyana as well as Dani, it's Karma. Rember she literally became Illyana's darkchild self when she took control of her during the original Asgard story. If there's any real conflict between Illyana and Karma it's that Illyana doesn't want Karma's pity.
Actually yes. They've tolerated each other but there's tension in recent years for good reason. Yana used her as a pawn against the Elder Gods and Karma in turn used her as a pawn against her brother
They dont trust each other completely bc both have shown to have no problems lying and manipulating the other into doing things they dont want to do
