lol yea the Tik Tok hair style has gotten very popular and since it usually involves bleaching the bangs a platinum blonde bordering on white, contrasting with a darker hair color, so instant comparisons to Rogue lol.

Interesting! I agree, it's not always talked about but her powers are very symbolically tied with sexual awakening, repression and emotional vulnerability metaphors. In some uncomfortable coronations even assault as her powers can be very invasive as well, even if it takes a cost on Rogue herself.

Altogether it makes her an interesting character. I like that's she's largely moved into a different space in her life right now even considering starting a family, as we've explored the area of trauma from her powers for like near 30 years, but I think a writer who wants to write Rogue should always keep this frame of reference when writing her relationships.

One thing I will complain about Carey and CCs interpretation of Rogue losing her powers, is the lack of adjustment and transition period. She wasn't able to touch people for nearly 7-8 years, but then goes back to touching her boyfriend like nothing? There should have been more "culture" shock but it never appeared on-panel which was disappointing.

I think it's one of those things that they use once and then remember that's not the way her powers work.

The Asgard Combo was the former.
I'd categorize the Colossus dalliance alongside the Carol Danvers persona being able to touch Psylocke safely as the latter. Both intended as leading to more story but then dropped as story threads.

I'd categorize the Colossus dalliance alongside the Carol Danvers persona being able to touch Psylocke safely as the latter. Both intended as leading to more story but then dropped as story threads.

I'm sure they were intending to go somewhere with the carol and colossus plots.
But I'd call the colossus idea just as contrived as the Asgard situation, seeing as how in all previous portrayals her powers didn't work in the way they did in that instance.

I remember thinking at the time...A Rogue/Colossus romantic pairing is not something I wanted to read. Claremont's pairings have a way of coming off as a tad "incestuous" and never ends good for either party.

This is really good! Looks familiar with a new twist. I really wish we had gotten a new costume in Dawn of X instead of just returning to her identical 90s look.

Excalibur experiments with it a tiny bit, especially in Otherworld, but it's annoying seeing it in everything else.
