As first revealed by Chris Claremont in Uncanny X-Men #185, Rogue was born in Caldecott County, Mississippi. That county is fictional, and apart from the fact that it is rural and is situated directly on the river Mississippi we don't know a lot about it. As far as I know it is not clear which real-life Mississippi county it corresponds to.

What I would like to know is: Has Chris Claremont ever revealed how he hit upon the name? Checking in wikipedia, I see that there are a number of real-life places called Caldecott - four (plus a Caldecotte) in England, two in Singapore, one in Hong Kong - but only one in the US, to wit the Caldecott Tunnel near Oakland, CA. Wikipedia also lists nine persons with the surname Caldecott

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caldecott_(surname)

Of these, the following two IMO may have been chosen by Claremont to name Rogue's home after:

Moyra Caldecott (1927-2015), a British author who wrote historical fiction, science-fiction and also non-fiction books about (mostly Celtic) mythology and folklore.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moyra_Caldecott

    and

Randolph Caldecott (1846-1886), a British artist who specialised in children's book and after whom the Caldecott Medal, an annual prize for "the most distinguished American picture book for children", is named.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caldecott_Medal

Can anyone shed light on this matter?

I don't know the answer, but I always wondered why he didn't just use an existing county name as her home?
there are plenty of other heroes who hail from existing towns.

Can anyone help me find a issue where Rogue knocks Thor down and he replies "A hit worthy of a Frost Giant". Rogue replies "You think that's impressive? Well, I'm about to get damn near Amazing on your ass".

That is from Avengers #401, dated August 1996. Written by Mark Waid, Art by Mike Dedato and Tom Palmer. It was part of the Onslaught storyline.
