Not to mention Roger Stern if you can find the collected editions of his run .

Agreed. IMHO, Under Siege & Assault on Olympus are highly recommended:

A favorite of mine, as well. It has yet to be surpassed...

I just read the Starbrand arc of Aaron's Avengers and Black Widow really did feel like she had no real reason to be in this arc other than to promote a movie that would've been out not long after the comic came out before COVID. Virtually nothing she is known for as a character was any real help in the arc and then they randomly put her in a War Machine armor, because that totally fits Natasha's skillset and couldn't have been put on literally anyone else (and yes, I remember Ultimate Widow having her own armor).

She did make a comment about all the aliens trying to go after the pregnant Starbrand woman as being men uncomfortable around a woman with power...that felt so out-of-place with what was going on, but I'm kind of used to that from Aaron at this point.

I was thinking of picking up this arc----so besides Black Widow being out of place in the story----was the rest of the story good? Did the other members "fit in" and have action?

Um...I'd say everybody but Thor and Iron Man/Black Panther (who sit it out) get at least one or two moments of note in the arc. If you're enjoying Aaron's run or read the past arcs, I think you may as well check it out.

    Thank you.

I have 1-5 arcs ordered, but the shipping has been horrendous! Still waiting for them to arrive, hopefully before the Holidays.....

that arc is him wanting to try out a few character fusions and put them in a story. it's fun, but not all that deep.

Busiek remains my favourite Avengers run, on par with Morrison's but it hasn't got the same tone. Morrison's resembles Hickman's run, wide screen comics on a large scale IMO. Hickman and Morrison feel like contemporaries to Ellis' Authority.

Just somehow a little more conventional and less cynical than Hickman.

I don't know if I'd rank Bendis over Waid. Bendis' run was more "major" but on a technical level (other than when it came to Spider-Man) I think Waid was a little better.
