Vic should be coming off his stint as Darkseid's herald soon, I hope he can have a triumphant 2020. I wasn't crazy about his voice actor but Vic on Young Justice last year was pretty good.

THE SIGNAL (Duke Thomas) is DC's secret shonen protagonist so I made him a fandom wiki

also, check out "The Signal Tape" a Duke Thomas fan project.

    • Marvel: TBD
    • Manga (Shonen/Seinen): One Piece, My Hero, Dandadan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kaiju No. 8, Reincarnation of The Veteran Soldier, Oblivion Rouge, ORDEAL, The Breaker: Eternal Force

I hated it at first but it grew as Vic's story progressed, it took a while for me deprogram his other voice from head and accept the new one.

yeah, the voice of all the characters on a whole was a bit of an acquired taste, I feel like the story was top notch but the dialogue and voice direction for the characters were shaky (even downright cringy) at times. It wasn't anything that knocked it down in enjoyability too much, i chalked it up to the team and the actors finding their feet.

His coolest designs are always the ones that equally mix up the cybernetics with the organics. I'm glad that a good portion of the animation takes on the character seem to follow that pattern.

    Just gorgeous....

Please get this character a quality writer (PRIEST !!). The potential for something major is there. Give him a full face and agency and i'll toss a salary at his solo title.

this was the one of the very few times the full robot body looked cool to me. Cyborg one million baby...only to get turned into the herald of Darkseid.

The art has him looking like a “true” cyborg and not a machine with a 3/5 face. Something more like the Reis’/Doom Patrol design or better.
Something more like this? I definitely agree.

If i were forced to choose (based upon story only) it would be the David F. Walker Cyborg run issue #6. David was beginning to turn Cyborg into the character he should be. The ..."moment" (no spoilers) the change began to happen still makes me smile. Issue #9 was fun as well.

My perfect Cyborg story hasn't been written but , if i'm being honest , looking back on Semper Jr.'s run i'm a bit more forgiving. The art was fantastic in my opinion ( i really prefer the rebirth design or similar designs as opposed to the movie design) but i thought the writing was ....''meh'' at best. I've softened on that stance a bit (likely because the art was so good lol). I'd be thrilled with a David Walker written Rebirth armor Victor Stone. David without question put Victor on the right path.

Get rid of the 3/5 robot face (interesting number historically speaking) and put a quality writer on a Cyborg story. Please.

I'm very curious....are the people posting in this thread willing to post images of the ideal Cyborg design they have in mind? I think having a visual would help clarify exactly what people would want to see. It's one thing to embrace or resist change. It's another to define the aesthetic path we'd like the character to stride.
Same here. I became a fan of Vic because of the potential. Never experienced that before with a character. Sadly the potential has been squandered up to this point.

As far as an ideal look, we’ve already seen it.

Thanks for your reply Robotman. While it is fair to say every fictional character has potential i think some have more inherent potential than others within the DC or Marvel universe. For example... Squirrel Girl and her baseline power set don't strike me as having as much story potential within the Big 2 universes as , say, Dazzler or...Jean Grey. Squirrel Girl may arguably be more popular than both. On the surface Doctor Doom has more potential than , say, Plastic Man. Cyborg has base line qualities and attributes that should put him in A list territory (or , at worst, upper B list).

I wonder how many other people agree with Robotman and view that Cyborg design as being ideal? I'd love to keep track of this among his "fans" as lots of words are tossed around but less definitive images.

I'd say the Reis design is 99% perfect. It's streamlined and modern, we've got more flesh showing than usual, and that's blended through and into the bionics more than is typical. It's easily the best design Vic has had in the comics.

I'd say there's only one thing, maybe two, missing from the Reis design; a chest emblem and maybe some clothes. I'm not 100% sure how I feel about Vic wearing regular clothes; it works great for live action stuff like Doom Patrol because it means less make up and cgi, but in the comics I don't know if it works as well or if it just gets in the way, visually.

The chest emblem is an absolute must though. Add one of those to the Reis design and you'll be hard pressed to find a better look for Vic.
