Default DC Next Dawn - January Solicits!

We present to you DC Next Dawn, a collection of all new fan-made issues on “sale” this month, JANUARY 2020!

What is “DC Next Dawn” and how does it work?

Next Dawn, previously known as “New Dawn,” is a fan fiction universe and solicitation game that has been in existence on the CBR boards for approximately ten years! It has gone through several iterations and has survived forum reboots! The way it works is that “plotters” write short solicitations for monthly comic books! Then participants “buy” the books they want to read! The books with the most buys get rewards. Sounds fun, right? So let’s do this! Which of this month's solicits interest and excite you? Let us know by posting which books you'd pick up in the virtual Next Dawn Store (this solicitation thread). You can pull as many as you'd like, but also consider your "virtual budget" when making your selections, as sales are used to reward our titles and plotters. Registers are open all month and sales are tallied at the end of the month.

Absolutely anyone can make purchases right here in this thread - so please do!. It’s free and is basically just saying “I’d read this” or “I like this!” So let us know!

If you want more information on Next Dawn or are interested in plotting yourself, please visit us at the Next Dawn Bullpen Thread.

    Behold! Our monthly archive!
This is the repository of our prior work; a compilation of all the monthly solicitation posts since the forum was reset in 2014.

    DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE #6
    Plotted by Clark_Kent
    Written by Dan Jurgens
Art by Dan Jurgens & Jay Oliva
Diana & Victor arrive on Apokolips. The landscape is a wasteland of filth and despair. In the distance, what would pass as a city for this place can be seen, crumbling spires amidst the massive firepits. In the center of the population stands a large tower, giving the appearance of a palace. Victor's onboard systems come alive, an unusual "ping ping ping" sound emanating from him. Diana looks on in confusion, but Victor knows his body is speaking to him. He was created from a Mother Box, and he oddly feels at home. He tells Diana the palace is their destination, and they march on.
Back on Earth, Clark & Barry meet with Bruce to discuss Professor Hamilton. In his ramblings, all Hamilton would say was "it is coming", but they were unable to get him to elaborate. Bruce agrees to look into the strange drawings Hamilton had made, while Clark & Barry go back to the remains of the cargo plane that appeared outside of Central City.
On Apokolips, Diana and Victor sneak their way past Parademons and into the palace tower...only to be met by the head of Steppenwolf on a spear! And standing behind the head, his arms crossed behind his back, stands the Dark Lord of Apokolips...DARKSEID. And he does not look pleased...

    THE FLASH #6
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by ROBERT KIRKMAN
    Art by FRANK CHO
“THE LIFE AND TIMES OF VANDAL SAVAGE” part one “THE FIRST HERO”
He is humanity’s first and most enduring hero. He is Marduk. Khafra. Licinius. Attila. Genghis Khan. He is Vandal Savage. And while the Flash has proven a thorn in his side, Savage believes him to be a wayward child... one with the rarest of gifts - access to the Speed Force. Perhaps the Flash can be brought into the Light. Perhaps all it will take... is a straightforward conversation.
Flash Fact: The Paleolithic Era, also called the Old Stone Age, is a period in human prehistory distinguished by the original development of stone tools.
~50,000 years ago. In its infancy, the human race teetered on the brink of extinction. The world was unforgiving and brutal. Homo sapiens struggled against the Neanderthals and other ape-like beings, always a breath away from extinction. The victor of these conflicts would inherit the world. It was then that Vandar Adg swore a solemn vow: so long as he lived, his species would dominate. That oath would be binding for far longer than the then-caveman ever dreamed, for after an encounter with a strange radioactive meteorite, Vandar became immortal. With this gift he fought bloody wars for centuries, mercilessly exterminating humanity’s rivals... until the unkillable man encountered death itself.
He came from the Fourth World. His ebony skin, or was it armor, seemed to absorb all light. He was the darkness descending upon mankind and he moved faster than perception. He was the Black Racer... and his touch was death. Could Vandar Adg drive this god away? And if so, what would he have to sacrifice?

    GREEN LANTERN #6
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by MARK MILLAR
    Art by JOE MADUREIRA
    “HEARTS AND MINDS”
Attention, an all points bulletin has been issued for Doomsday of Krypton. Suspect is humanoid bipedal, 7’0” tall, 615 lbs., red eyes, grey skin with white bone protrusions. Last seen on Klackdor VII. To be considered extremely dangerous. Wanted for devastating two planets and killing or injuring 27 Green Lantern Corpsmen.
Doomsday is gone! After causing untold devastation, the monster disappeared from behind a Green Lantern planetary blockade. Hal Jordan is assigned to find out where the beast went... for none can rest easily until Doomsday is found and contained. But his investigation may point to an even greater disaster looming on the horizon. Did someone hide a Starro spore in Lobo’s Space Hog before he broke the blockade?
Meanwhile, Oa’s medical technology repaired the physical injuries Guy Gardner sustained on Klackdor VII - but mental wounds are harder to heal. Guy doesn’t believe in all that psycho-babble crap, but the Corps’ “wellness policy” mandates he attend counseling sessions and be cleared by a therapist before he can return to duty. Xudarian psychiatrist Dr. Sigmar-Fe might not know what she’s in for...
Elsewhere, J'onn J'onzz the Martian Manhunter, secretly U.S. Director of Homeland Security, reaches out to John Stewart with concerns. Apparently, immigrants from Earth are being actively courted... by Warworld!?! Mongul promises them financial security, a high standard of living, and quality education for their children. But can Stewart find out why Mongul really wants humans living on his weaponized planetoid?

    LEGENDS OF THE MULTIVERSE #5
    Plotted by Clark_Kent
    Written by Grant Morrison
    Art by Kenneth Rocafort
"Vicki the Vampire Slayer", Part 2

    La-La-La, La-Laaaaa-La...

Earth 4: Henshaw and the others wander the seemingly deserted streets of Gotham City. With super hearing, the Eradicator detects the sound of life, but they are hidden amongst the burnt-out shells of buildings, hidden in the filth and the darkness. Even for Gotham, this is bad. Using Eradicator's hearing, and Steel's HUD inside his helmet, they make their way toward what appears to be a large grouping of people.

    La-La-La, La-Laaaaa-La...

When they approach the structure, Superboy tears away the door to find stairs leading to an old underground bunker. Built long ago, the walls lined with lead, it's the perfect place for humans to hide from the prying eyes of Vampire Superman. Henshaw enters the bunker first: he sees scores of people, families, huddled together. Scraps of rotted meat strewn about, these people have been suffering for much too long. Henshaw ponders if this is how the initial survivors of Coast City had felt...

    La-La-La, La-Laaaaa La...

Once the Cyborg Superman was in full view, a panic started among the people! His machine half notwithstanding, he still looked very much like the Necro-Kryptonian! He tells the others he should leave, but before he can go the wall caves in! Dust and debris go everywhere, as three figures make their entrance! Vampire versions of Victor Stone, Barry Allen, and...Harley Quinn?!?

    La-La-La, La-Laaaaa La...fresh meat, boys......

The Darkness Within Part 2 of 3
After several weeks of distribution, the Man in Black has finally found what he has been looking for. Six Blackfire descendants have been found. It is time for testing. Finally, his patience will be paid off.
At Tim and Stephanie's apartment, a huge argument is being had. The subject, Deacon Blackfire. After much heated discussion, Tim opens up about what he knows about Deacon Blackfire. It's not pretty and it's terrifying. The group of friends decide then and there they have to do everything they can to stop this, no matter what it takes. Their only clue, the owner of the warehouse, Roland Daggette. They set out to find him.
Meanwhile, Miguel Jose Barragan files a missing person's report with the San Francisco PD. His friend Randall Payton has been missing for 3 days. The last place he was seen was near the Daggette Chemicals warehouse after the fire. Miguel decides to start there.
From the diary of Stephanie Brown - January 20XX

Deacon Blackfire sounds absolutely terrifying. He had Batman beat. No one likes to talk about how Blackfire managed to brainwash Bruce. And while Blackfire was eventually defeated, the terrifying part for all of the Robins, even myself and Barbara, is that the man we all admire, was beaten. Not physically, there's always someone faster or stronger. No, Blackfire broke Bruce's mind, the mind of Batman. If he can do that do Bruce, what could he do to us?

    THE QUESTION #6
    Plotter: CaptCleghorn
    Writer MARK RUSSELL
    Artist BILL SIENKIEWICZ
“Do You Really Want to Make Me Cry?”
Last issue’s fight went poorly for Vic. But in his defense, his opponent was a super-human cyborg. Now, Vic finds himself in an unknown location after being mysteriously rescued before the fight got much worse. His savior is a young woman named Merry who calls herself the Girl of a Googleplex of Gimmicks. At least Vic thinks so; he’s suffering from a probable concussion and considerable cognitive confusion. Now while most of us would be wondering who Merry is and what she wants, Vic’s main thought is “please, God, don’t let me puke in the mask”.
You may think that’s a joke, but if Vic takes his mask off, any of the hundreds (dozens?) of fans who watch him in Hub City access cable would be able to recognize him.
And now, the questions for this issue of The Question:
“What happened to Ronin and if he comes after Vic, can either he or Merry stop him?”
    “Wait, just who is Merry?”
    “Has anyone seen Bandit?”
“How’s it going with Tot and Aquarius?”
The last question “Is Vic going to hurl?” has an answer of probably.

Wonder Girl is alive - but with the beating Red X gave her, she’s lucky to have survived.
Why did DC’s most stalwart hero do something so brutal?
Dick doesn’t have the answers himself. He doesn’t remember doing it himself; it felt like his body was moving on it’s own.
All this for Guitez’s prize — a simple flash drive.
Back at HQ, a shaken Red X is confronted by Dr. Sung, who has her own doubts about Meridian. And, perhaps, some answers. Is Dick in any state to handle this? Is he losing himself in Red X?

    Writer: MATT FRACTION
    Artist: FRANK QUITELY
    Color Artist: F.C.O. PLASCENCIA
In the shadowy alleyways and on the even more shadowy rooftops of Motor City, the costumed vigilante known as The Night Ranger drives his spiked boot-sole into the face of crime, driven by obsession and loss. But as he teeters on the brink of madness, is the cure worse than the disease? That's the question asked by megastar actor and producer Kyle Mason's next project, Rise of the Night Ranger, his eagerly awaited return to his most iconic role, and the sequel to the #2 grossing film of all time. But with only weeks left until the start of shooting, the script isn't ready and Kyle is pulled in opposite directions – by the studio executives who think his vision is too dark and nihilistic, and his lord and master Darkseid, who thinks it isn't dark and nihilistic enough. Also, the band Night Ranger is suing for trademark violation.
Meanwhile, across town at the PR firm of Everybody's Looking at U Inc., young up-and-comers Ira Zlotnik and Candace Baptiste land their biggest account yet: famous escape artist Scott Free, aka Mister Miracle, who's looking to boost his career to the next level and become “bigger than Harry Houdini.” But Mister Miracle has a hidden agenda: he's a deity from the planet New Genesis and the agent of his homeworld's plan to counter Darkseid's agenda on Earth. So a cosmic war moves onto its strangest battlefield yet: 21st century mass media.

Holiday Hell Part 2 of 2
"It's New Year's Eve in Oakland people. While this isn't Gotham and there's no Joker or Riddler or Bane threatening to blow up the city, we still have a major problem with P&P. Be alert and stay safe." - Captain Montoya briefing the MCU.
There's a party at the newly re-christened Ledge Building and everyone is invited. It's nothing more than a publicity stunt by Lex to gain some good will with the city, but it's working. Unfortunately, the party is drawing a much larger crown than the OPD can handle.
In that crowd is Black Manta, undercover, hoping to gain some intel into P&P. It's slow going until Manta spots someone passing out packets of something. And once he figures out that it is indeed P&P, Manta plans to confront the dealer.
In that same crowd, Renee Montoya has also noticed someone passing out packets. She moves towards the dealer…only for a large, dark figure to appear to her left and start firing into the crowd. Happy New Year!!

Funny thing is, you can only have a maximum of 15 options for a poll! But your books can always be a write-in!

Starting off the new decade strong! My pulls:

ACTION COMICS #5 (Superboys will be boys)
    BAT-WING #6 (love a good framing!)
DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE #6 (poor Steppenwolf. I didn’t think his CGI head was so bad!)
DEADLY HANDS OF CONNOR HAWKE #6 (Lol I was smiling!)
DETECTIVE COMICS #5 (go Penguin go!)
    THE FLASH #6
    GREEN LANTERN #6
LEGENDS OF THE MULTIVERSE #5 (garlic is their Kryptonite!)
MYSTERY IN SPACE #5 (sounds... weird!)
THE OUTSIDERS #5 (this is why brick and mortar stores are dying...)
THE PROTECTORS #5 (Blackfire has me scared now too)
THE QUESTION #6 (you had me at Girl of a Googleplex of Gimmicks)
RED X #6 (never good when Dick loses control!)
...SAME AS THE OLD GODS #2 (damn Studio interference! I want to see Darkseid’s vision!)
    SENSATION COMICS #6 (Morrigan collusion!)
SWAMP THING: SEA OF GREEN #5 (I wouldn’t want Gigglers anywhere near me!)
VILLAINS UNITED #6 (2020 off to a villainous start already!)
Age of Marvels and DC Next Dawn - Monthly Fan Made Solicitation Competitions on these very forums, make your pulls now! Want back story? Check the Wiki!

    My pulls:

    BAT-WING #6
THE FLASH #6 (you're the mug who stole the Black Racer from me! good to see you're making good use of him)
LEGENDS OF THE MULTIVERSE #5 (Vampire Superman strikes me as a very Morrison idea)
...SAME AS THE OLD GODS #2
    SENSATION COMICS #6
SWAMP THING: SEA OF GREEN #5
    VILLAINS UNITED #6

    The buys for January.

DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE #6 (If Darkseid isn't happy, Ain't NOBODY happy)
DEADLY HANDS OF CONNOR HAWKE #6 (Ha! I called it! I don't need pants for the victory dance...)
THE FLASH #6 (Vandal! Vandal Savage, king of the stone age world [the tune is left to the reader to ascertain])
GREEN LANTERN #6 (It's a good thing the Guardians gave us such a detailed description of Doomsday. He's easily confused with others. )
LEGENDS OF THE MULTIVERSE #5 (Vampire Harley Quinn? This could be the Twilight of the Multiverse.)
THE OUTSIDERS #5 (Emotional drama and deep questions.)
THE PROTECTORS #5 (Deacon Blackfire sounds fearsome and scary.)
THE QUESTION #6 (Trying not to vomit is a challenge few heroes face. Brilliant writinbg or weak sauce? You decide!)
RED X #6 (I have flashbacks to school and wrong answers causing a fear to rise up at the thought of Red Xs. Well played.))
...SAME AS THE OLD GODS #2 (When wiki character pages are done for this, one must include Q scores must be included.)
VILLAINS UNITED #6 (Happy New Year to you as well!)
