Yup. Same as Hawkeye. If writers want to use him as the scruffy lovable screw-up, fifty years of character growth on a character who is practically an elder statesman of the superhero set, and has *mentored* multiple other teams of less experienced heroes, goes right out the window and he's the scruffy lovable screw-up, yet again.

As bad for Lang, who, not too terribly long ago, was handing *Dr. Doom* his butt, with a side of *science!*

And what is it with the scruffy? Is sad facial hair really artistic shorthand for 'this character is a jobless schlub loser?'

That is essentially heroes for hire which Lang was a member of before.

I get what they are doing with the character..but that does not mean the writers can't throw him a bone every once in a while so that he is not homeless and destitute. The occasional insurance recovery or bounty to put a roof over his head and food on the table.

i don't like the art. Cassie wasn't as entertaining as i had hoped. i don't know what to make of the villains. i'm not a big fan of the monster type villains. they tend to lack personality.

To me it is that they are all bug themed.

bugs, like monsters, tend to not have great personalities.

Just finished the first issue. It was pretty fun. Hopefully, Cassie gets more involved in the later issues.

I liked it. Not a fan of Swarm but it seems like an interesting plot. Scott is still broke. Glad to see some giant size. Hope to see Grizzly and Machinesmith down the road. The Tales to Astonish crew too. Cassie should keep Scott in line.

Hmm...I get a breakfast cereal villain vibe from them. But it’s not like I am going to skip next issue or something. I hope the scientist shows back up.

Yeah, although I do not want Swarm to be semi-rehabilitated, in the manner of Grizzly and Machinesmith. I kind of want the 'Nazi made out of bees' to stay unredeemable and not get 'morally complicated' or humanized or whatever.

The other bug-critters can still be alien and inhuman and whatever, and Swarm be a necessary ally against them, but not a potential buddy...

Exactly....Keep the Nazi a Nazi. Don't pull the 'Hydra was something else' nonsense.

They could always have some of the bees revolt and retain some of their augmented sentience. That allows for a heroic legacy character. Could call them Kid Colony or Honey Boy.

After Scott helps him defeat the others I fully expect Swarm to turn on him. I expect once he returns the bees he’ll get stiffed on the the fee as well. Story of Scott’s life. This is pretty much picking up where Spencer left off. I wonder if Janice and Darla will appear at some point.

This is a limited series....not an ongoing. So doubt there will be many guest stars.
